thanks ConUK for the link. As it turns out, I tracked it down just a bit ago. I need to get my new system built (one day) so I can do my Cougar thing again. I own two, with one new, and never removed from the box. The deal on it was too good to pass up. The stick of old 4671 has gotten a bit wobbly so I felt a new one might come in handy some day. Also I'll be curious to see how the Cougar performs on Win7. I'm guessing I'll be reading about that real soon.
thanks again!

ps I've gotten used to cleaning those pots when they start to spike. It's not hard to do, and a good cleaning lasts a good while. With my new one I'll be sure to lube the gimbals, and maybe even try the dissimilar material mod (brass shimming? Teflon?).
