I currently have XPSP3 and Win 7 RC in a dual boot setup. I got my upgrade disk this AM and I just wanted to be sure that I can upgrade the XP drive without screwing up the other HDDs on my PC.
I have been migrating programs and files over to the Win7 RC and testing everything out. The upgrade disk instructions are telling me to move everything to an external HDD before proceeding.
Upgrading the XP HDD will not effect the data on my other HDDs correct? Should I disconnect my other HDDs before upgrading?

I would suggest you disconnect the other drives.

It shouldn't effect any data on your others HDD's but why take a chance.

I'll just cut and paste this from another post:

1. Probably the most error proof method is: When installing the OS, unplug the other drives until the install is finished and then if you want to add any other pre-existing OS's to your default windows bootloader (for Windows menu choice) you can add them with BCDedit or use a tool such as EasyBCD

That's what I did, no problems.

Also, it's good to know that the "Upgrade" disks are actually full installs that can be applied to a naked HD smile
