Works perfect for me. But I have mine patched to 409m. But I'm running 32bit Win7 too.

It's the DVD/CD-ROM drive that is causing the issue. I have seen this with other software, and it is not isolated to Windows 7. It also does this with other OS's like XP and 2000.

Optiarc AD 7240S DVD-RW. I can't find anything online about potential issues, but seeing as everything else seems to be loading fine, it makes sense to be the culprit. Looks like I'm buying a new DVD-RW for my BRAND NEW (just arrived yesterday) computer. banghead

After much further reading, I copied the files from the DVD to a file on my desktop- install seemed to go ok. Thanks guys!

Hey Shipmate... Try and update the firmware of the optical drive. I see that you have solved the immediate problem, but I would be curious to know if a firmware update solves the overall problem.

Hey Skater- updated the Firmware to 1.03, got the game to install but still unable to get it to run- the continuing saga is over at the IL-2 thread. I'm beginning to see what all my friends with Macs are always so smug about.

IL2 on Windows 7 x64 install procedure (for me):

a) Right click the "a.exe" application on the DVD and run as administrator (NOT the setup.exe, this will not work!)

b) Install game

c) Run the Securom game updater (https://support.securom.com/analysis.php), point it to your IL2FB.exe and get it to analyze and update the file.

d) Patch/hack as necessary.

That is a really strange install routine... My IL2 does NOT install like that under W7.

I just reinstalled IL2 1946 to my Program Files x86 directory. It went without a hitch and played perfectly.
