Tracks are data files that store flight parameters and chronology, and can be 'replayed' to recreate segments of the game. The track recorder allows players to review single player and multiplayer combat performance and to make movies. The stock game comes with several prerecorded examples of tracks, including the training videos and the opening movie. One of these default tracks is titled "Black Death", a combat sequence where IL-2s simultaneously attack an airbase, convoys and other targets.

"Black Death" has been included since the first release of Forgotten Battles in 2003. Since it has a lot of aircraft, ground objects, ballistic particles, etc. contained within the data file, is very CPU and GPU intensive. From the earliest days of the FB series the Black Death track has been used as a benchmark to test/diagnose frame rates and overall computer performance, as all players have this track by default.

Thank you. I want to test my new PC with an Intel i7 & ATI 4890 and see what sort of FPS it will give me, so I now know where to look. Smile2
