I just finished uploading the Tactical Fleet Simulator (TFS) trailer for version 2.6/.7.

Here is the video. Watch it in HD.

Tactical Fleet Simulator is a mod for Homeworld 2.

More info and a download can be found here.

I recorded two more games online, so I have around 15 minutes of recordings that I will make into another video or two.

Thanks for watching!

Looks nice but I still wish they'd switch over to a game that's far more well-suited for tactical ship-to-ship combat, called Nexus: The Jupiter Incident.

We tried Nexus. Didn't like it too much. But I honestly did not really put much effort into it at all.

There certainly are many aspects of Nexus I wish were in Homeworld 2.

Ideally, TFS would be a mix of HW2 and Nexus gameplay. I have come up with many new ideas for the new ships, but the engine is not able to support these ideas. Or at least no one has done it yet.

Maybe I'll give Nexus another go one of these days.

Looks pretty good, might have to give it a try.

Nexus was pretty cool, looked like the engine had potential but guess it never really kicked off. Wonder if it was technical reasons?

I'd really like to see someday a game that models large capital ships fleets. Something kind of similar to what Starfleet Command 2 tried to do with its multiple weapon, energy, etc system management but more refined ...and without any hex flipping smile

Not sure, but it was pretty moddable out of the box. Graphics and physics looked great.

It seemed to die off quickly though. I guess because the MP was just a ship VS ship thing?

Indeed, and a short while later they were bought up by Eidos, they're now the company behind the naval action-games called "Battlestations: Midway" and "Battlestations: Pacific"

Anyway, I guess part of my problem is I'm not a huge fan of the ship designs in HW1 or HW2, they feel way too colorful and just plain weird to me.

I agree with you about HW1, I do not care for the designs.

But I really liked the original ship designs for HW2.
