They were not fond of each other. I don't think there was a full blown incident but I know for a fact they were not buddies.

Yeah, I've heard a similar thing existed between Jerry Doyle and Michael O'Hare.

Michael was more of a traditional, stage actor who didn't like Jerry's "out of the blue I'm an actor" approach.

In my opinion Michael O'Hare was simply miscast from the beginning. This is not a criticism against his acting ability but simply that in my opinion, he was the wrong actor for the role on B5.

I've mentioned before that I've been watching this with my girlfriend, and we're about 1/4 of the way into season 4, and she was so glad they replaced Michael O'Hare. She like his performance a lot better when he was in the series later on Minbar, but she didn't think he was the right guy for the commander.

Ah yes, by Valen's name! A Minbari not born of Minbari...

On the record, jms always stated that Sinclair was supposed to leave the station.

Off the record, the general consensus is that it was a business decision. WB execs felt he (Michael O'Hare) wasn't a strong (enough) lead.

I doubt anyone will ever get that out of jms' mouth, though.

I know that JMS and O'Hare got along though. JMS has specifically stated that he would have no problem working with O'Hare again in the future if that opportunity would arise. I personally have nothing against O'Hare. I thought he did a very good job in the "War Without End" 2 part episode and the character of Sinclair/Valen was a fascinating one. It's just that I dont think O'Hare as an actor was strong enough to be the lead on the show.

Ditto.
Just right for Valen, but I wish they had taken a different route to get him there. Of course part of the story was the confusion over why he was selected, but still. Would have been better to have him as an EA ambassador and someone else to fill the 1 season captain slot. They could've even killed off the captain (or two?) early on that way for more of the conflict they had at the start of season 2. Boxleitner was just right for coming in at season 2 though, then incorporate him into ambassador and B5 CO.

True on both instances.

Well, if we're going to go technical (btw, the fact that I'm still a B5 nerd 11 years AFTER the series ended is amazing to me), its a 3 part episode:

Season 1, Ep. 20 - Babylon Squared
Season 3, Ep. 16 - War Without End, Part I
Season 3, Ep. 17 - War Without End, Part II
