Fresh install won't run in Win 7?

I have Win 7 set up as a dual boot with XP. I had no problems installing in Win 7 but when I click the IL2.exe the little cd-rom icon comes up for a few seconds and then....nothing. I have tried running as admin and in XP compatability mode and I get the same thing:-( The funny thing is that I copied my old installation folder(w/4.09mod) and it will load, but I get no loading screen just whiteout. Then I get to the main screen but my mouse moves very slowly and running any track file is 1-5 FPS. My 1946 IL2 DVD does have SecureROM and I have patched it to 4.08m.
Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, me too. I patched up to 4.09m just to see if it would work and no dice.

Well just to add more confusion to the mix so sorry in advance, I have a dual boot system XP and windows 7. I have IL2 installed on XP and patched to ver 4.09m, for me here's the wierd bit, I would have expected windows 7 to spit feathers when I launched IL2fb.exe from the XP installation in windows 7 saying something along the lines of it not being installed but voila it works, all my settings, mods and patches.

I know. I could get my XP installation to load up in Win 7 but its unplayable, still no luck with a new install in Win 7 64 though.

That is very odd indeed. My official release is arriving today but I have IL-2 on the RC on another machine and it was working very well. I didn't do a fresh install but just copied my folder over and all was good to go. This was on the 64bit version. Once I have time to install the official release on my gaming computer I'll let you know how it goes. It won't be a fresh install either as I have all my games on a separate HD so I won't have to reinstall them, at least most of them that don't require registry entries. Hope you get it sorted out soon!

Fixed!! The mod switcher from a previous install was locking up the loading screen at 95%. reinstalled the mods and switched it back and viola..runs great.

Excellent news. There is nothing more frustrating than an install that won't run!

Quickcord Great job and congrats! Seeing I'm still working, it's hard to get my install going quickly (I have a home office attached to my house) so I haven't finished setting up my controllers yet, still have another 90 mins. to go until I can eat and then finish and test...

Well I'm having a hell of a time now. I've got most everything set up so I can fly now and went to test the game. It starts but the weird thing is I'm zoomed in on the upper left corner. I go to move the mouse and I see the cursor disappear. I alt tab out and back thinking this will fix the aspect ratio and it doesn't! So I decide to set it for my desktop resolution- 1600x1200. Start it up and same damn thing! Stuck up in the upper left corner and am zoomed in. Nothing I do will give me a full screen view or make the mouse work within it! Anyone have a clue what I need to do to fix this? Thanks for any help you can give!! Edited for more Info: I've now done a fresh install and just testing it from the DVD without any patching causes the same problem to happen. I even started a game in Hyperlobby and launched from there and same thing. Looking at the preview from the icon when I alt tab out shows me the entire game screen but when I click on the program to go back in I'm zoomed in on the upper left corner again and no mouse... I've already screamed and cried... running out of ideas here...

Just picked up a new computer myself, running Win7 RC 64 bit, and unable to get the game to load. If I try running it in Open GL, the disc spins up in the drive for a moment and stops, and if I try running it in Directx I get an error message saying a dll file is missing. Tried troubleshooting the compatability mode, and while Windows suggests I run it in XP SP2 compatibility, it then flags with "program incompatible" after that. Can't seem to get any other solutions to work, and I'm not sure if anybody is experiencing the same problem I am, since most folks seem to have a dual boot. A little help please?
