Vista is having a hard time in the work environment, but for home users it's an excellent OS. It's into it's 2nd service pack and running strong. I do like Mojave...er, Win 7...but I'll only get it after the first service pack or in my next netbook. I find it difficult to work on XP now, it feels unsecure and far outdated. I don't blame Vista for software manufacturers failing to keep up and patch their products to stay current. My transition to Vista was *far* less painful than going from 98 to XP. Or even XP to XP SP 1.
As for a new graphics card, I could use one. I refuse to pay to stay on the cutting edge of that tech though. I'm fine with playing the big games a year or two later. I don't want to pay more than about $120 or so for a card, so being a year or two behind the curve is fine. I game regularly which is expensive enough when you're on both PC and console, no need to throw fuel on that fire. I'll see DX11 and respective games in a few years.

DX10 was an absolute failure because it was tied to Vista, which is also an absolute failure with a market share of less than 30%. DX11 has a slightly better chance of success because although it wont be available for XP, it will atleast work on Vista. XP currently has a market share of 70%, and if Windows 7 could take 50% of that market share (which would be very suprising as XP users are generally satisfied and unwilling to 'upgrade') we'd be looking at a fairly even split (33%/33%/33%) between XP, Vista and 7. What a mess for MS. It's hard to imagine any games company would be willing to sacrifice 33% of their audience merely for some extra graphical wizzbangs. What's more likely is that the majority of vista users will upgrade to 7, and XP users won't, therefore leaving DX11 with a marginal market share increase over DX10 but still no where near DX9's. Cheers Remember that 98, 98SE, 2000, XP and ME era..... yeesh, i think 95SRx was in there too...

Cheers Alot of Vista License Keys are eligable for a free upgrade to Windows 7... so... Keep Vista and Hate your PC or upgrade to Win7, which was already better than Vista in the Public Beta 1 Stage, and the upgrade is free .. easy decision.
