Well I just got me a new Antec PSU (850W) and a new Geforce 260GTX vidcard. I want to use my old 8800GT card now as a physics card in my pc. What must I do for that? Just put the 8800GT card in the pc and install Nvidia Physics drivers or does this need more? Do I need to connect the second card (8800GT) to the new card or just plug in the motherboard, install drivers and that's it??
Also my motherboard is an ASUS P5K/EPU and was made for crossfire actually. Can I use it for two cards like, the 260GTX for the screen and the 8800GT for the physics or will the fact that my mobo was made with crossfire in mind not accept that?
Any advise, input, help is greatly appreciated here! Thanks in advance. Best regards, Kodiak.

Well, I have a similar setup. Got myself a GTX216 and used my old 8800GTS for physx. Deinstall the NVidia drivers then put in both cards ... you don't have to link them (no SLI possible). Then install the drivers. If it works like my system then you have to install the drivers twice ... on the first run it detects the GTX216 and on the second run the other card is detected. Once thats done just go to the NVidia systempanel and check if the 2nd card is set as physx card, if not set it.
Thats it.
On a sidenote, at first I had some trouble on the drivers install because I had to set the motherboard up for SLI use, it wouldn't detect the 2nd card otherwise.

Well I uninstalled my drivers, then put the 8800GT card in the PC. Started the PC and installed the 191.07 drivers, they detected the two cards without a problem and set the 8800GT card as Physics card, and the 260GTX as primary. It worked like a charm, no problems whatsoever. Sweet. Thanks. Best regards, Kodiak.

Do you have to un-install the driver first? I'm about to add a 9800GT to my GTX260 box.

The GTX260 driver package should recognize the 9800GT. Good choice for a physics card actually, given the low watt.
What games are you guys actually using these for?

@Billzilla, first uninstall your drivers. Then switch off PC. Put in second vidcard for physics. Start up PC and install your drivers, it should automaticly detect the 2 cards and set your second card to physics, but you can check and/or change that in the Nvidia Physics tab. It all worked like a charm here with the 191.07 drivers.
@RSColonel_131st, I play Company of Heroes a lot, and it goes real smooth at 1680x1050, and I use a mod for zooming out wider, so that needs even more power, but all is smooth here. Also I play a lot Fallout 3 and Oblivion at 168x1050, everything maxed out, also suports Physics if I'm not mistaken. Best regards, Kodiak.

This may be of interest considering the Original Post. EVGA is announcing a dual GPU Nvidia card. One GPU for DX10 graphics, one GPU for PhysX, one slot, and all compatibility interaction issues worked out (I presume). Dual GPU Card for Graphics Plus PhysX I would seriously consider an out of date (read "closeout priced") single GPU Nvidia card for PhysX (along side my ATI GPU). But, reportedly, Nvidia locks out their cards for PhysX when used along side an ATI GPU. ATI is supporting "open source" Bullet (brand name) physics language and also the Microsoft Physics SDK that is rumored as being incorporated into DX11. Microsoft is rumored to have licensed Havok Physics (which is supported by ATI). However, none of those are being used for GPU accelerated physics games yet. So, as I mentioned, I would consider an Nvidia GPU for PhysX -- if it worked on my ATI system.

Compatible game list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PhysX#GamesShame that Nvidia doesn't cooperate with an ATI in the system.
