Just swapped out my dead 8800 GTS 320 for a BFG GTX 260 Core 216. Everything is running well, but F4:AF has some artifacts. I fixed pretty much everything, but I still get a good deal of 'shimmer' and muddiness on ground textures, and despite enabling FSAA (OVERRIDE APPLICATION) 8xQ in my Nvidia control panel, I still seem to have some jaggies on outside views of the jet.

I know it took me awhile to get things looking good on the 8800, and I stupidly didn't backup the NVAPPS.xml with the 3d Profiles. If anyone has things well tuned on a GTX260 or similar Nvidia card, please share your Nvidia and in-Game settings.

I am using the latest WHQL Driver (191.07)

Thanks in advance!

Have you set anisotropic filtering to 16? Try supersampling AA.

Also, on my system it looks better when I enable mipmap for terrain and objects (in F4 options).

Running a 285 with the same drivers. In game I have AF and both MipMap options selected to on. Nvidia control panel set for the F4AF.exe I have AF application; AA Gamma On; AA Mode Override; AA 8X; AA Trans Off; Texture Clamp Hardware; Error report and Extension Limit to OFF; 3 Pre-rendered frames; Multiple display mode; Texture filter OFF; Conformance to Clamp; Quality to High Quality; Trilenear Off; Threaded On; Triple Off; Vsynch Force On.

I have a good in game screen with no shimmering. However, the tac display and weapons pages are pretty trashed.

Hope this helps,

Duker

Thanks! What seems to have really fixed it was setting Anisotropic filtering in the game and having it APPLICATION CONTROLLED in the Nvidia panel. Thinks are looking pretty good now even with the -g5 option to max out graphics.

By the way, you can fix the Tac and Weapons pages by adding this line to BFOps.cfg (create the file in the Battlefield Operations folder if it doesn't exist)

set g_bForceSoftwareGUI 1

I did not know that worked in AF.

I have this in my "Start IN" Field...

""C:\Program Files\Lead Pursuit\Battlefield Operations\" -g5"

Is that right?

Thanks!

Recluse,

Thanks for the tip on the BFOps.cfg file.
Had to create it and it works like a charm.

No, you have to create a NEW shortcut. For some reason the shortcuts auto-created don't have a TARGET Field that is editable. Right Click the FalconAF.exe and SEND to Desktop or similar route and enter the -g5 in the TARGET Field:

"C:\Program Files\Lead Pursuit\Battlefield Operations\FalconAF.exe" -g5

Various graphics sliders will now go up much higher...kind of like Spinal Tap's Amps :-)

Edit Reason: heh "NOW" not "NOT"

I definitely saw a difference! I could see airbases from much farther off with the Mk1 Eyeball as well as nicer textures.

I made a typo above. I meant to say "Various graphic sliders will NOW go up much higher"

But.. I am pretty sure you read it as I intended rather than as I wrote smile

Cool. It worked great. Thanks again!

I recall a warning from FF5 about not pushing one of the sliders too far but, I can't recall which one it was. Does it matter in AF? Anyone remember?
