Good Grief... The only other Forum with less activity and interest is the "Official Maddox 1C Forum"

It's a Bad Sign!

Yes it is.
And there is no more activity right now in the official forum either.
The patch need to come asap right now and have the critical parts fixed so I can start flying again and enjoy MP/SP.

Actually, I'm pretty suprised by the viewing numbers for the RoF forums; I thought they'd be much lower. On any given moment it's being looked at by roughly the same numbers as in the IL-2 forums.

Some of that could be train wreck watching as folks come in to see what the latest thread is complaining about! wink

Just before posting this there were 27 visitors on the RoF forum, the IL2 forum had 66. I wouldn't gauge popularity by the number of people visiting a forum, anytime a new game/sim is released interest peaks for a few months and then it gradually declines. This is fine for AAA titles as the majority of their sales are expected in the first few months. Sims on the other hand rely on long term interest, especially considering that Neoqb absolutely rely on that long term interest financially. As was said by many people here and on the official forum (myself included) RoF does not have enough to keep people interested beyond a few short months. Those few short months are up and people are starting, or have already lost interest. They will keep checking the forums to see if anything has changed or if there is any news, hence the reasonably high visitor count.

I have been both positive and critical of RoF (mostly critical admittedly) but it is/was totally founded given the almost lack of progress in any substantial areas. I like most others here can see that RoF has stunning FM, DM, physics, sounds and visuals. So the core fundamentals are all excellent but the rest need to be improved dramatically. It has always been Neoqb's plan to release the core sim and expand on it over a long period of time while generating income from extra aircraft sales. The problem has been that while there have been patches released they haven't addressed that many substantial problems.

In my opinion the biggest cause of peoples frustration is coming to grips with Neoqbs business model. Neoqb have adopted a policy of selling new content to increase their revenue stream, with the aim of using this money for future development of the sim. The problem is that when a lot of people accept this business model and purchase all the aircraft Neoqb release, they can't be blamed when they get frustrated when after purchase six new aircraft at a cost of $45 (£28) there is nothing of actual substance added to the original sim. This is a major concern because as this trend continues people will simply stop supporting Neoqb, they will look at the lack of progress and decide RoF is going nowhere fast and stop buying new planes.

The simple fact is that RoF has been available since early May in Russia and since June in the rest of the world. That is five months since release and so far the updates have not added any new content to the sim apart from aircraft. The community is willing and patient, we are hoping for some tangible meaningful updates to RoF MP and SP. We wait with baited breath to see how RoF develops, and hope it is a success. We rant when we see simple things go unresolved, such as the lack of a English translated editor manual. The relatively simple task of releasing the an English version of the mission editor manual would give the community the ability to keep itself interested while we wait for Neoqb's next update.

We know and understand it will take time to polish this very rough diamond. We know that Neoqb have long term plans for RoF. The problem is that after five months of post release development RoF has not changed substantially in any way since it's original form. It is this lack of progress while continually supporting Neoqb financially that is causing people to get frustrated and to become less supportive.

From a purely subjective standpoint it seems the most interest in this forum is sparked when threads like this one pop up. I would guess that if people stopped repeating the same things like how there is little multiplayer activity, a limited single player, and Neoqbs public relations there is very little else to discuss about the sim. There is simply not enough material to discuss.

I still drop by this forum from time to time to see whats new. Unforunately, not much has changed since release.

44 viewers now in Euro daytime, 67 for IL2.

Maybe ROF is more popolar in the UK and Europe.

I just installed the ROF jawdrop

In very short order I went online and found many of the top Sim pilots in the world playing there. cheers
Granted they are the elite and there numbers are few as is the case with the best.

There aren’t 100's of people online line but given the quality and caliber of who is interested,
it proves the sim draws those who appreciate the quality that this sim delivers. Charge
.
I found ROF to be a refreshing new challenge.
It pushes one to relearn what “E” (Energy management) is all about.

Speed is truly life in this sim.

It is also a wonderful plase to implement ACM’s (Air combat maneuvers)

As these WWI aircraft were the machines and pilots that they were derived from. duel

This sim’s flight model allows one to perform them with realistic physics.

It makes for an energizing challenge.

It’s sad that most people think if a plane has two wings it’s not exiting. grrr
In fact the opposite is true.

I find the up-close and personal dog fights along with the unparalleled flight models make this WWI truly exiting and it has and for me, has totally rekindled my passion for flight sims woot

As far as im concerned it’s about Quality not quantity.

Sure the sim has some minor things that need sorting out, its new that’s to be expected.

That’s what patches are for.
But if any remember sims such as il2 from day one I think you will agree that ROF is off to a much better start.
Interest will grow online, the sim speaks for itself.
Thanks for a great sim ROF team. notworthy
