One more thing, There is one more error message saying

"eech.ini already exists. Do you want to replace it?" But this bounced back to the previous
"cannot create C:" message.

Anyhow thankyou both for the suggestions.

Problem solved by complete un/reinstall. Games is beautiful! Now I can get myself killed in a more realistic enviroment.
