I had an idea the other day:
It would be great to be able to play TAW across two soundcards, with one soundcard (the default card) providing the external noise such as cannon, explosions, landing gear, etc, while a second sound source (such as a USB headset) could play back the radio comms and B****ing Betty. FSX does this well, and this is a nice feature for people who use headsets (for multiplayer and for TrackIR).
Then I got to thinking: the TrueSpeech codec is a natural dividing point for headset sounds (radio comms, Betty) and external sounds, since all speech in TAW uses TrueSound.
Now here's the question: would it be possible to intercept the TrueSpeech playback before it is sent to the default soundcard, and reroute it to the soundcard of our choosing?
If we could get this working the only thing missing from the headset sounds would be the missile lock tones, but I could definitely live with that.
Your thoughts?

The average Naval Aviator, despite the sometimes swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy, and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.
