Interesting review. I wonder who IGN blew to get the review out this fast?

No one is saying much about multiplayer which is disappointing. The team xbox review didnt even say a word on multiplayer.

I pretty much only played MP with 203 friends and then fleshed out the grid with AI but I was hoping to hear more on all the different options available. Like if you can customize a car from inside mp instead of having to back out to SP or if the money you earn in MP still transfers to SP credits or if only ranked matches give credits or...

They didnt even touch on any of it.

This preview piece gives more info than anywhere else I have read.

Considering how multiplayer is about 1/2 or more of the game these days I am very disappointed in these reviewers abilities. Obviously they can access MP because the IGN review shows a cat and mouse movie. I dont want a complete breakdown but a little info would be great.

Yeah mainstream reviews are becoming more and more useless.

1) Their pockets often get lined, so their judgment is clouded. Sometimes intentionally.

2) They review it from a journalist's perspective instead of a gamer's. It's no longer about the game being good and/or fun. It's more about innovation (new IPs), technology (new engines) and garbage issues like that. If I enjoy the game and play it for hours upon hours, I don't care about the points they make out to be such a big deal.

3) Multiplayer is often forgotten. Hello? Many of us will play the SP portion for a couple days, maybe a week or two. We will spend months and months in the multiplayer. The reviews often add a paragraph or two or omit it entirely and the basis for the review is the SP. I know that is all that counts to some people, but not the majority of us.

I don't even read most of the crap anymore. I just go by demos, vids and info on the game that is concrete and/or info from friends who have played it, and make my own judgments. I've learned to know what I'll like and what I probably won't.

Hmm, that rant just slipped out. Whoops.

All that said, the review scores are probably pretty accurate. As long as T10 don't mung MP up somehow, which I doubt they will.

Thanks for the links.

This review touches on Multiplayer a little. It is from G4 so I'm not sure its the most reliable source but hey......I guess its another opinion.

No need to apologize. In fact I completely agree with everything you said. Game reviews do seem to be becoming more and more less helpful. A lot of junk I don't care about or that I have already heard about for the past 6 months anyway.

It just always seems that the bigger the hype, the better the scores. Then games like OFP:DR get a small corner of the page critique that has a score they never fully explain.

That's why renting is such a beautiful thing. Then you can just decide for yourself wether or not the game is worth buying at minimal risk.
