I have the AAA unifed installer so that 6dof Trackir works in the game. Is this patch going to screw up my install? I don't think I can go back to playing without 6dof.

My guess is that we'll have to wait for AAA to update its installer as a follow up to the 409m patch?

Will this install on top of 409b1m.zip? This is the beta version.

I went and risked it, and just installed it over my old install. Works fine. It doesn't affect your modded 4.09 beta. I've got both. It does not install any of the new stuff into your old modded beta, they just live side by side and seem to leave each other alone. Was expecting problems, but it's okay.

Okay, I just went to go and play the unmodded new 4.09, and uh...how do you get back to it. Oops!
Well, you use the switcher to bring it to unmodded 4.08, and then run the 4.09 exe. again, and it brings it right back.
I'm going to do it this way until the AAA team come out with a new a switcher. I really don't want a dual install! The 4.09 exe. takes only a few seconds to run.
But, the good news, still, is that it doesn't screw up your AAA mods.

a bit convoluted how the .torrent is in a zip ..

I was out most of the day .. only one server was available and it had slowed down to about 25kB/s .. might have taken all night or stopped

I'm pulling from 68 seeds right now at 294kB/s my max dowmload speed from the torrent .. will take 30 minutes or so .. I'll seed it overnight..

Got the patch I about 20 mins from the torremt.
Left it on all night and will do same today to help seeding it.

But I'm on third try for the skins.
I assume this is due to clogged bandwhith from patch downloaders.

Might be a good idea to torrent the skins as well.

I had to re-register since it's been years since i downloaded any Il2 stuff. Now, to reinstall and calibrate the TrackIR (groan)

I'm not seeing anything different! Those who are using the switcher, which version are you selecting? I'm not seeing any new planes or changes to the QMB!

I installed the patch, then to be double sure, I unzipped it to desktop and dropped the contents to my IL2 install but still nothing.

Pooch - thanks for your post but just to be clear....

I have the full AAA Mods with the switcher for 4.08/4.08mods/4.08 mods + 6DOF/4.09/4.09 with mods/4.09 with mods + 6DOF

I didn't keep a backup installation of 4.08 so let me understand this correctly. To use the 1C Maddox final 4.09...

1. I use AAA Mods switcher to go to 4.08 standard.
2. To run the 1C Maddox final 4.09 I then install the 1C Maddox final 4.09 patch and run the game without further use of the switcher.
3. To get back to 4.08 I run the switcher for 4.08.
4. I never use the 4.09 switcher for the 1C Maddox final 4.09 except as steps 1 and 2 above.
5. I can still use the beta 4.09 (plus mods if I want) by using the AAA switcher for 4.09 even if I was running 1C Maddox's final 4.09 before.
6. Next time I want to use final 4.09 I do steps 1 and 2 again.
7. Mixing these final and beta 4.09s doesn't screw thing up.
8. I can install the 4.09 1C Maddox new skins and just leave them there throughout all of the above.

Is all the above correct?
Have you tried all of these?

Do I need to worry abut the 'No CD' il2fb.exe?

I did try to install the CD again after renaming the IL-2 Sturmovuk 1946 folder but it wouldn't do it
