A couple of questions about Laser`s DG, firstly why is the date stuck on 31/12/1930 ? Why is there only a player`s flight selection not an enemy flight option ? And lastly when you go to save the file why do you have to name it ?

Simbo

(please forgive me if I am missing the obvious it is a bit late in the day here in the UK)

It's not "stuck" at that date, it just defaults to that date ... for some reason. Just type in 1918 and it will remember it.

You can add additional flights for either side and any country. Just click on "Add Flight" and change the parameters.

When you save the game it gives you the ability to create a custom name so that all of the fights are saved separately and have a more distinctive and recognizable name than just "Dogfight".

Are there actually any instructions on how one uses this thing? The readme is really not sufficient.

I thought they were a little short and to the point my self, "Use Self Explanatory".

To some extent they were and i have made and flown two missions successfully and i might add very enjoyable.

But a quick explanation of some selections would possibly be of great help to others.

Is their a number limit to additional AI flights and do they all act as your enemy or does it depend on the country of origin you select for yourself and them, if country has no impact why bother having it in there other than maybe its for the skins selection.

Well yes, country selection will decide if the group is on your side or not. It is hardcoded so far, so any templates should use order:France, USA, or Great Britain, opposite:Austro-Hungary or Germany. I think this is the 'implicit' understanding anyway, as long as there isn't a separate 'choose side' option.

No number limit for additional AI flights, except your computer power - too many airplanes and your game will either run slow or crash.

So anyone having precise questions, should ask smile

Very nice!

I already made myself a "Reims" template. Now I know that the opposite / order is fixed I can put in some vehicles, archie and stuff as well !

Is there a place where we could collect the templates? wink

Thanks a lot for the prompt answer Laser and the explaination of country use.
Great work by the way, had already done a fair few missions using your first version, Intend to give this one a good workout as well.

If I recall correctly from my beta days... Within the Mission Editor it isn't quite as simple as that. 'Order' is the side for which the mission is designed to be flown (can be any nationality); 'Opposite' is the opposing force.

An example: if the mission designer's objective is to portray a German recon escort mission, the German side is 'Order' and the French/English/Americans are 'Opposite'.

True of course, this is just how it is now in the quick generator. For example Italy and Russia are also missing etc. I chose for this version the simplest possible way, from an implementation point of view.
