I find it odd that a group that produces a 1:1 scale ETO map seems to have no problem using a map of the Solomon islands that is only 3/4 scale. So are they trying to say that a European theater mission should be played as a sim while the realism level in missions in the PTO does not make any difference?

I'm not sure what you are referring to, HS. The 352nd didn't make the Slot map (I presume that is what you mean?) but we definitely enjoy flying it. We enjoy flying most of the maps, whether they are largely fictional (on line game maps, for example) or partial and non-geographically correct (the Normandy map), and the Italy-Greece-Africa map too.

It's all good. Well, most of it, anyway.

Henry Schrapnel, the real hard limit with The Slot is the size of the area represented. The Slot covers a huge area, and a 1:1 version of the map (isn't the slot already 1:1 BTW ?)wouldn't run on most machines. Even in its current form with relatively few objects (compaired to an ETO map) it still runs poorly on some systems and causes memory issues. When building missions on the map, I found it wasn't safe to have more than two densely populated areas in the same mission (base and target), within certain limits (how many objects you can safely put on the map at once). Even then compromises have to be made.

Everybody would like all maps to be 1:1, but it's just not feasable in some cases.

A 1:1 realistically populated map including London and Berlin and everything in between is simply not possible at all. It would take a very (I mean incledibly ) long time to make and would give horrible performances. You wouldn't be able to have more than a few planes in the air at any given time either, if the map loaded at all...

Cheers

Nico

Not if it turns out to be more playable than SOW on most people's systems.
