Just curious if something is in the works. I've seen Ming showing off some nice mission description etc. Do you have something in the works Ming? smile

The thing is I would really like to make one, but finding out all the historical facts takes sooooo much time. In fact, much more time than making the actual missions. While making my little "online mini campaign" I tried to use real pilots' names and use the correct squadrons in which they flew. for instance, I found out after an hour of searching that Jasta 65 flew near the Verdun front in June 1918. Then the pilots: Tiedje, Zempel.. Nice, we have skins for them! But who is the senior officer? Who should be leading the flight? I still don't know!

Who would like to co-operate in making an accurate historical campaign? (let's aim for 10 missions first). I think it's a bit too much work for just one guy. It would be nice to have someone to dig up historical facts, someone to write the story/briefings (native english speaker please!) and one or more mission builders and testers.

I tend to shy away from accuracy because of the research part. Also, I don't think the current planeset is complete enough to keep the encounters accurate anyway. I think the front currently represents summer of 1917 (Reims area was a bit different in 1918) and we have mostly 1918 aircraft.

I might step up to the plate and create a mission or two for a series if someone can provide me with the specifics (locations, numbers, dates, encounters, objectives and briefing). In other words, if all I have to do is make sure the mechanics of the mission work, then I'd be happy to dedicate time to it.

Okay, just received a job application from another mission builder wink

Now we need someone to provide the facts and the stories! smile

Yeah, it is a bit awkward that the front line is static. In some areas the front was pretty stable I guess? Again, more digging to do... Personally, I would love to do a 1917 campaign from March to October, set near the British front, but we haven't got the planes yet! So it will have to be 1918 July-October, but where?

Do you have something in the works

I did have Vanders and I created the first mission of a campaign but no one even mentioned that they'd flown the mission (Vert Galand, intro movie etc)

So I'm currently grooving and sod the lot of you, carry on Smile2

Darn! I was hoping that you would be working in secret on a massive campaign, with well written prose and lots of background info, media and compex mission scenarios... frown

So I'm currently grooving and sod the lot of you

Lol, I think a lot of us feel that way! If you make a mission/campaign for IL2 it gets downloaded 500 times or more. For RoF you'd be lucky if there are 25 interested players...

Therein lies the reason I just look for interesting terrain... and even that I have trouble deciding upon!

I like crazyeddie's Somme 1918 battlefield placements a lot, but the terrain there is fairly flat. Not that it really matters, but I'm partial to the rolling hills of Reims.

There are other areas of the Front that don't change from 1917 to 1918. Basically anything East of Tahure and North of Arras is fairly constant.

I fully understand that. Post a mission, see no feedback or comments. Rinse and repeat a couple times and you start wondering what you're doing wrong... I can see that they're getting use, I just have no clue by who and for how long...
