Hi does anyone know if there's some place to get the old 3rd party add-ons for Falcon 3? I'm specifically looking for Strategic Falcon by Flying Muffin which was a campaign enhancement prog. I've checked around and it seems like all the old links are dead.

Worse, it had copy protection. Would take someone with skills in that area to get it to run, unless you could find someone who still has a copy that they purchased when the business was around.

Well, I can't find the disk of Strategic Falcon itself, but I found the manual.
If you can't find it anywhere else I can take another trip down to the basement and check some boxes for old floppy disks.

That could be worthwhile - rescuing the program here could lead to one the talented persons perhaps getting it up and running. Also - any chance of a scan of the manual?

Ok, if you guys are really interessted I will take another visit down to the basement, dust of the old ammo-crates and search the for the disk. But I can't promise anything.

Scanning the manual is not so easy because and don't have a working scanner. But I'll see what I can do.

Jens

BTW: Might we get into legal trouble here? Is Flying Muffin Enterprises still active?

I have my Strategic Falcon disk and manual. Not sure what copy protection/codes may have been involved or if I still have them (I DID buy it back in the day). I have the blue booklet manual and also a printout of the manuals for the 1.1 and 1.2 update.

Edit: OK.. I successfully copied the Strategic Falcon diskette and patch to my HD. Looks cumulative as readme's for all three patches are on the diskette.

I actually have Falcon3 installed. Started the install of SF and it says for Falcon 3-3.04. I think I have 3.05 actually...which is supported in the patch. Also there is apparently a TSR that runs when you run Falcon.. wonder if DOSBOX supports TSR's?

Well.. I might try to install SF and see if it works..

Go, Recluse! And the power of good old dosbox. What happened after the install?
Can you run SF?
What about the TSR mode? How important to the integration of SF and F3?
Good manual?
Any implication for online? The resulting campaign management changes compatible with MP?

I didn't follow through with the install since it was getting late, and this would be just the kind of obsessive thing that would have kept me up all night.

The TSR seems to be vital. During Install you are presented with the "FIVE COMMANDMENTS OF STRATEGIC FALCON" and one is "THOU SHALT ALWAYS LOAD THE TSR BEFORE RUNNING FALCON 3"

The manual addressed MP..but I don't recall if both players needed SF or just the host who generated the campaign. I meant to bring in the manual to scan today, but I forgot.

Awesome I knew someone here would have a copy. This is one of those cool progs that's practically lost to time at this point.. Have you been able to get it running Recluse? It seems like most TSR's are supported in Dosbox from what I can tell. I'm running 3.05 too... Any chance you could send me a zip of the install to play with? smile

I haven't had a chance to install it and try it out, but I think maybe Eugene did. I did spend a lot of time reading through the manual and remembered how complex it was. Flashbacks to spending hours micromanaging the Strategic and Tactical aspects of a mission, then getting shot out of the sky 15 minutes into it smile
