It's hard to know where the braking point is for T1. I've done a couple of 10 lap sprints and my best time was 1:40.7

i usually brake around the 50-60 meter mark(I think) and carry good speed through the chicane and then brake hard for the following corner. So far my best is a 1:38,2. I do agree though, itīs a strange track. At first I couldnīt break the 1:40 and out of nowhere came a 1:39,0 followed by floundering around in the 40-41īs and 39īs before a 1:38 suddenly came. Now the 38 are fairly easy interspersed with quite a lot of 40īs.
Iīd suggest going to the F1 official site and watch Massaīs qual lap

Qualifying

Made a mistake which cost me about 2 tenths but it still would not have been enough for pole, so a PB and 2nd position, which I was happy with.

Race

Way too much wheel spin off the line allowed David passed me quite easily and I had to tuck in behind him. I had a feeling he was 1 stopping so it was crucial that I overtake him asap. I was able to do that on the 2nd lap when he went a little wide at T5 which allowed me to power past him into 2nd position and try to chase down Col Kurtz.

I was surprised by how fast Kurtz was but always knew in the back of my mind throughout practice that I should've been faster. I was on the ragged edge driving a good 7 tenths quicker than my practice pace trying to stick with him, but he was still pulling away every lap. The worst part of my race barring the accident was the 2nd half of my 1st stint, I lost a bit of concentration and dropped about 5 seconds.

The 2nd stint was a lot better and after looking at the race analysis, Kurtz only increased his lead about 2-3 seconds, but it seemed like a lot more (psyche!).

After the 2nd stop I was right behind him due to a faster in-lap. Unfortunately the pressure got to me before I could try and make it get to him, losing traction and spinning on the exit of T3, losing my front wing. Headed back to the pits which allowed David to pass me, then brought it home for 3rd place.

My downfall today was the 3rd sector, never quite mastered it this weekend.

Great drive by Kurtz, congratulations and a solid drive by David, surprised he 1 stopped. Congrats to all who finished.

I was getting way too comfortable but this is a good wake up call.. roll on Suzuka biggrin

Well I had an interesting race. Qualifying went ok. Slightly disappointed I didn't get below 1:40 but happy with 5th, given the pace of the top 4.

Race was fairly solid. I felt very lonely for a large part of it, barring a few laps with lazyc overtaking me and chris giving me a much needed shove from behind. Enjoyed some consistency in the second half and was able to sneak into 4th after lazyc's incident.

Several bits of housekeeping to do today.

First, a big congratulations to Col Kurtz for proving Ahmad isn't (totally) invincible. The pace the Col maintained in today's race was just short of shocking. Some terrific drives by others too! Congrats to all who participated. With 8 entrants, everyone scored in the points.

Because Singapore was "strike 3" on the series, Japan and Brazil will be canceled as official events, but I will load-up each track after the Saturday Fun Series and leave it up through Sunday for those that want to run the two races.

SimHQ F1 Series - Mini Series 4 Final Points
Because of the cancellation of the last two events in Mini Series 4, Ahmad and David are announced as co-champions for Mini Series 4.

For Abu Dhabi, I'll post a poll a few days before the race to see if enough people can commit to running the 100% full event. It wouldn't do much good to post it now because peoples schedules will probably change 3 times before then.

Thanks to all you who consistently supported the series for the past several months, and once again a congratulations to Ahmad for winning the overall 2009 championship!

Q

Set a PB and could of been a few tenth quicker but no where near Col lap.

Race

Made a good start Ahmad spun his tires too much and I got by easily. I went wide T3 2nd lap and Ahmad easily went by.

I had alot more fuel as I figured I'd try a 1 stop. the tires just barely make it down to single red fading dot! lol!

pretty much just tried to keep it on tracj and not hit anything. Col just too fast and only got by Ahmad because he had to pit to fix his wing.

Still 20 seconds down @ the finish...

Great pace Col. bad luck there Ahmad.

I'm a maybe for next weeks race..

Well, I was surprised at being the fastest in qualifying by such a margin as I was expecting others to be on a similar pace. The start went perfect for me and I began to pull away from DC, and then Ahmad once he got into 2nd place.

Leading the race I felt uncomfortable looking at the display showing where 2nd place was so I turned it off and just focused on my own laptimes. It was only when seeing the laptimes/results afterwards did I notice that Ahmad had pitted on exactly the same laps as me, when at the time I thought he was stopping once.

I saw him in the mirrors after my second stop and assumed he was on worn tyres on a one stopper. I tried to pull out a gap but he hit the wall anyway, and that was the end of our battle.

From there I checked my lead time to DC and decided to lower the revs for the remaining laps.

Congrats to DC and Ahmad on their podiums and the championship! And very well done to Ahmad on his victory run now that its over smile

Its just a shame that Doug has had to cancel the remaining races, Suzuka and Brazil are both great tracks that I'm sure would have had good turn outs. Bernie shouldn't have dud tracks such as Valencia and Barcelona on the F1 calander (and Singapore is not an easy track to learn).
