As I promised last week, I've updated several skins that I did for the E-4 that actually depicted E-3's. They now have their own section at my site. I've redone some of the them to be more historically accurate. So far there's also one brand new skin but I hope to make many more in the future... Let's start with that one and then I'll ad some other examples - there's more at my site!

They look lovely and sharp as ever but I'm curious about the colours. Were they really using these browner-looking greens? I know you will have done hours of research whereas I'm just casually having a look. no offence meant, just curious though, as it is quite different from many other versions of these kind of skins. Either way, they're lovely. There's nothing like the sight of an Emil. Willi should have stopped at this point, in my opinion.

Thanks guys! Regarding the colors, I work from the colorchips made for Ken Merrick's Luftwaffe camoflage and markings. The RLM02 is indeed warmer than what is often shown in skins and RLM71 is also a slightly brownish green. There's a long way between the colorchips and the finished skin though with lots of room for interpretation. First the colors need to be lightened and harmonised so that they look good together as well as in the game environment. Then there's lots of weathering and some shading going on top of that.

That's at least the short version, I'm not sure that I got it right but there's a lot of thought that has gone into it - right or wrong! smile

Love those textures Cpt, very nice indeed.

Yellow #1 ans Red #13 look the coolest IMHO
