Just went curious regarding the CPU usage some players have on there dual core system, so I did do a monitoring and noticed that I had at some moment, a peak of 95% CPU usage.
I'm Running XP32-sp3 and my PC has 4Gb memory which is the max for my system, but in Win XP32 only 3.2Gb is available. I know RoF appears to be a 32bit game so a XP-64 will not bring me any benefit concerning RoF, but this XP-64 OS can reach my full 4Gb memory.
So my question is: will XP64 relieve my CPU usage, because it can use the total of 4Gb memory!!!!!

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ [oc to 3.5Ghz]
Sapphire HD4890-1Gb VapporX
Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 4Gb

I would say no, you won't get much if any improvement by going to XP64.
I would also say it would be a waste to get XP anything. Support will end soon, so not much for it to offer really. Probably not a good idea to get what is nearly a outdated OS. When you move to x64, get Win7.

I do not have Win7 and win7 appears to be no faster then XP, so this is no option.
As already wrote down: the game appears to be a 32bit design, so the 64bit OS will bring no improvement, this sounds right!!!
But in my old Pentium2/win98 period I had made a big performance improvement by plugin the max RAM memory in that P2-mobo. So I was thinking if I'm going from a 32bit to 64bit XP, I can join the max available RAM that is in my system. 32bit XP can max use 3.2Gb and the 64bit XP can use the max available 4Gb Ram!!
So will this extra 0.8Gb Ram reduce my CPU load!!!!

Again, no, I don't think you will see any improvement.
If you already have XP64, put it on and try it. If you don't have it now, I would not buy it. I would get Win7 x64, if I was interested in a 64bit OS.
If you don't want Win7, then just stay with XP32.

I have them both (XP32 and 64) but if the 0.8Gb extra memory does not make any sense, then I will stay to XP32 because RoF is a 32bit game!!!
I think Win7 does not do a performance boost for RoF, at some test-sites DirectX9 games are faster in XP.

Hi again

Well, since you do have XP64, you could try it. Much would depend on the drivers for the x64 version.
I never had XP64, but I went from XP pro sp3 x86 to Vista ultimate sp2 x64 and based on ram used while gaming, I don't think you will notice much of a difference. I have 8GB and never use anywhere near that. Maybe 3 to 3.2BG at most. I only get full use of 8GB in stability test where I had set it to use all ram.

A fresh install of Windows (either one you choose) and RoF may offer better performance. Win XP does like fresh installs once in a while. So, if you try it and find it to be better, remember some of that increase may simply be due to a fresh install more so than x86 vs x64.

You wont see much benefit at all as although a 64bitOS can see more than 3gb of Ram I don't believe a 32bit app can access it anyway, for that you require a 64bit OS and a 64bit app.

I changed my CPU from an old AMD64 300xp+ to a I7 920 and went from 2gb to 3gb of ram and stuck with my 8800gt, my fps went from single digits up to about 40-50fps.
