Hi kids,
I had another trip to Coningsby today. Nice to give my new D3000 and lens a test, and good way to spend the last day of my thirties! Nothing spectacular visiting, but good light, and I've not shot at the 07 end before. On the whole, it beats being at work, catching nasty bugs off the freshers!

First out was a Tornado. Unusual array of 'new' panels on this.

Full 'burner departure. Quite shouty!

A different 'fin' arrives. Is that a Hellfire hanging under there?

I love the twin stick Typhoon.

But there's nothing like a Cold War classic. What a piece of kit.

Back seater looks bored....

...but is actually more interested in the 'roadworks'.

Curving approach affords a slightly different angle.

I'm very pleased with the D3000. A nice step up from my D50, for a relatively modest outlay.

I hope you liked the shots,
Gareth

nice pics goon, it looks like the missile on the tornado is a Brimstone (or at least a mockup)...basically the same casing as a Hellfire but all new insides.

Cool pics - I'd love to see some Tornadoes and Typhoons on this side of the Atlantic some day.

I had to go to a Mil-Base in south if Italy last summer to take care of some procedure within the EFA Simulator and had the great pleasure to see'em flying around.

A lot.

And noisy!

Such a lovely bird. smile

Great shots Mate!

I have only had the pleasure of seeing Tornados flying at Nellis AFB during Red Flag. Can't wait till I see my first Typhoon.

Typhoon is very impressive.
Haven't sen an F-22 yet but at least in airshow type manoeuvres Typhoon clearly outperforms F-15/F-16 & Gripen.
Was lucky enough to see one do a max performance take-off on Monday (this is not normal operating procedure as it's noisier & burns more fuel) & we reckon it was airborne in ~1000 feet.
Even in dry power a couple of others were only using around 1/2 of Leuchar's runway & then going pretty much into a vertical climb - by comparison the F-15s in burner were taking a lot more of the runway & then continuing to stay low for a distance before pulling up for the zoom climb to altitude.

Thanks for the comments.

TheBigDog - Brimstone, that's it. I knew it was soemthing like that (fits with the name 'Hellfire') but couldn't put my finger on it.
