For Saturday's racing, set rFactor on All Tracks and Vehicles. Let's try the Vayline Venom RC1 (the full race version) at Toban Reverse Short.

Great fun!

This coming week: Meganes v2.02 at Orchard Lake Grand Prix. Races will be reduced in length to 5 laps. Some with mandatory pit stops, some at night.

If you need to download the Meganes mod, its here:

A couple quick questions.

I have been playing RFactor for a couple of weeks with a gamepad, and just got a new MOMO wheel hooked up and working tonight. What a difference...

The one thing I am thinking is that my kids can watch me race online, so I can actually have some game time before bed (not like Arma2, where they can't really watch me play it, too violent). Anyway, does anyone see a problem with this (I am thinking mostly of language over comms. I will likely be wearing a headset anyway for my TrackIR, and could turn down the external speakers low if it is typical that some 'F-bombs' and whatnot have a tendency to get dropped over comms. Either way, just a heads up on what to expect with the language so I can be ready for it.

I just ran some laps with the Meganes and the Orchard Lake Grand Prix, had lots of fun, cool course.

Anyway, I will try to meet up for the Wednesday night race. 8PM is 6PM my time. About how long does the race last, start to finish? About an hour? Also, for the Meganes, are they all the same? I was using the Euro one I think.

My goals for the evening will be to not cause any accidents (other than my own of course), and finish the race.

Any suggestions or thoughts for a total newbie to online racing would be appreciated.

Cheers!

I don't think I have ever seen or heard anyone swear during a fun series race, so I think you will be fine there. Race usually last 10 minutes or less now that we switched to 5 lap races, so you can get a bunch in over an hour or two. The meganes are all the same I think, just the euro ones have that last longer(may be wrong). You will cause an accident but it's alright, everyone does it. This is a good place to learn to race online and learn to anticipate what others will do.

Thanks for the reply Coutie.

I have been going off of the 'So you want to race at SimHQ' sticky, and the post in there states a 8:00PM EST start time, but this thread and the banner at the top of this state 9:00, I am presuming 9 is the correct time?

I also forgot to ask about realism settings in game. I have been playing with all realistic, but damage at 25% and auto-clutch, auto-shift on. I am wondering if I should start practicing manual shifting in order to race online?

Also, any suggestions from other G25 owners on the setup of that wheel? I am using the ReelFeel mod, and have force feedback strength at 50%, and that seems to feel pretty good. I am also wondering what game actions people have mapped to their wheel? I have pit limiter and LDC cycle mapped for now.

Thanks again.

Cheers!

It is definitely always 9:00PM EST on Wed, 1:00PM EST on Saturdays.

I think the damage settings for the fun series are pretty low and your realism options are fine, it's all very casual.

Don't have a G25 so I can't help much there but on my wheel I only have views, pit limiter, headlights ( and horn :Þ ) mapped.

I use a G25. I don't have the FF or wheel settings in mind now, as this is in any case an area where I need to do some more work. But the mapping is this:

Left wheel button: neutral
Right wheel button: Switch for the menu ( enginr temperature, pitstop settings, wheels temperature and damage, etc.)

The shifters on the wheel are used for their intended purpose.

The four red buttons on shifter unit from left to right:
ignition, starter, horn, asking for pitstop

The four black buttons on top of shifter unit.
Left: rev limiter for pitlane
top: increase boost
right: temporary boost
bottom: decrease boost

The boost may get mapped to my Saitek controller though with three levers, which I use for brake balance and seat position (high and low) so far.

Regarding foul language, we had this very briefly once this year, and it didn't last long. Usually you will hear some comments in good fun and camaraderie with some laughter. And if I curse I do it only without having the speech button active and do it in German then.

MojoFlow, love to see you join in. The Fun Series is definitely cold drink and Cheetos racing. We have traction control and stability driving aids turned on, but its elective to what setting they're used, if you choose to use them at all. As said, super short races are to allow lots of drivers to compete. Please join in on Teamspeak. If someone gets disconnected, they can come back in and we will reset the track so they can enter.

All Meganes models are available, but it would be good to grab one with headlights. wink The endurance cars have them.

More details available from the "Multiplayer" page link on the SimHQ top navigation bar.

And yes, it's 9 PM eastern. I will change the text error.
