Okay, this is super-frustrating. I tried RoF last month, but had issues with it playing for about 3 or 4 minutes, and then the screen would fill with one color -- a green that's similar to the grass palette in the game -- and the computer would lock up solid. I was planning a system rebuild anyway, so I figured I'd just wait and try again after that.

Now, after rebuilding the system (different motherboard and RAM, new OS install), I try again, and get the same thing two missions in a row -- take off, fly a bit, and then the screen fills with the green color and the system hard locks.

Config is a Core i7 965, 6GB RAM, Asus P6T motherboard, Vista SP1 x64, GeForce GTX 285, Asus Xonar D2X sound card, Saitek X45 Pro. (Newest drivers on everything.)

Has anyone seen this particular kind of crash? I do have all the settings maxed out, but this rig should handle that.

Okay, narrowed it a bit: If I turn off Post effects, the game doesn't do this.

But you'd think with those system specs, I could run with Post effects on...

Well, latest crash was a nice bright purple screen...

I seem to have narrowed the problem down to the DOF setting. Turned it off, and so far all is running well. (Knock on fabric-covered wood...)

^^ Denny i believe this is a generic Nvidia crash. Nothing to do with DOF. I've had this and have never run DOF. I suspect it is when the card is stressed. I've had it on RoF and Arma2. With a GTX260.

If it happens often and your card is new you might have a 'dodgy' card. In 20 hours of RoF play it happened to me once when i was hosting and had been playing for a long time. The 200 series get super hot when playing RoF.

You might want to monitor the card temp and increase cooling in your rig.

Gents....had same issue...sometimes white, sometimes red. I have a GTX 260....I guess I can use the E-LEET software to bump up the graphics card fan to 100% from the outset. I tried to keep track of temps but didn't seem to be running too hot. I will say one of the times it crashed it was right when I heard the internal fan on the card kick in.

Any other advice to get this thing stable?
