Was wondering if any posters have had the same problem that I am currently experiencing. 4 missions (Quang Khe Ferry, Hai Duong Bridges, Pierce Arrow BDA, and Techepone Barracks) all cause the dreaded Blue screen of death. After selecting the single mission, and the 30-40 second load process, the above missions cause a fatal error and then the dumping of physical memory. I have yet to re-run all of the missions since the problems began occurring, but out of the fifteen or so, those 4 continually cause the BSD.

I have uninstalled and re-installed twice, run defrag twice, and most recently purchased System Suite 9 to assist in attempting to diagnose the problem.

I have installed the YAP2fix, free ships, helo update, and combat mission sets through #30.

I was thinking that I might have a bad sector on my hard drive (i unfortunately did not have a UPC when i sufferred more than one power interrupt this summer), but have not been able to confirm that.

Rig I'm running:
Windows XP SP3
4GB RAM (3.25 nominal)
Intel core2 duo E7400 (2.8Ghz)
Western Digital WD3200 hard drive (300 Gb)
NVIDIA GE Force 9600GT GPU

If anyone has seen this or has any suggestions i'd be quite open to the suggestion.

Thanks and kind regards,

Deke

When you installed did you use WOV (part 1) and the official patches that came with the disk? or did you use the newest patches for WOV1 and or WOV2?

Stormtrooper,
Thanks for the reply. I installed (and then un-installed and re-installed) the single WOV disc that came with the YAP2 disc from Z05. Installed in this order:
WOV
Patch 1
Patch 2
YAP2

Then installed:
YAP2 fix
Free ships
Helo update
New mission sets (2 and 3)

Did you happen to play the game after the first and proceeding installs? Usually best to play after each patch.
If you have then i'm not sure what the problem is.

Navy, although your system should be able to handle the game nicely, I see one thing in common with those missions. A Carrier. Adding to ST's suggestion, I want to try something for the heck of it. Lower your in game graphics a notch. If you have everything on high, try medium. Report back.

We ran into this before, but I dont recall the solution. I think its in the forum posts somewhere.

8 LEIN and ST,
I had played a number of these missions in the past 3 months - I installed the patches per the directions as described earlier. BTW I really appreciate both of your posts and thoughts on what the problem may be. I, like you 8 LEIN, had also thought that it was the Carrier. However, I was able to run RESCAP - the F-8 mission off of the carrier just fine last evening.

Anyway, I may try one more uninstall/re-install and see what happens. The only thing else that I can think of is it possible to have some of the mission files corrupted and others not - even though I am using the original disks to re-install?

Again, appreciate your efforts on my behalf. If it comes to it, i'll back up my drive, slick it, and do a complete re-install. That would be the Linebacker II option though, and I'm not there just yet. I will check all of the forum posts from the past.

ok, I thought this was a first time install problem. In addition, if you do a uninstall/reinstall, do a regedit also. May have some lingering crap in there.

Just in case others have the same problem - I found that matching the NVIDIA resolution and the gameplay resolution solved the problem. sometimes, its the obvious that we miss. Thanks to all for the replies and assistance.

Thanks for that one. I'll add that to the FAQ's possible solutions.
