Pilot Training

Let me share my recently started adventure of pilot training in USAF. Obviously, I can share some information but not all.
Last month I started UPT (Undergraduate Pilot Training). It is divided into three phases; phase 1, phase 2 and phase 3. First phase is academics and simulations. Second phase is continuation of academics, simulations while flying T-6. Finally third phase involves flying next airframe that student tracks.
Right now I’m on academic. Here’s a picture of some of our material for phase one and two.

We are going through 400-500 pages a week. In addition, we recently started familiarization with cockpit and procedures. To do so, we use a cockpit simulator.

Every little switch and knob moves and acts same as in real aircraft. Also, cockpit has full force feedback for rudders, throttle and stick.

In this sim we can practice everything from getting into a jet, going through checklist, starting it up, instrument flying and practicing emergencies.

There are three different sims; cockpit, cockpit with monitor and full blown 180 deg view around. Expect more pictures soon.

Tell them to buy a Thrustmaster Cougar and watch Congress debate whether or not to fork out $4M to get the damn things workable!

heh fuzzy seat in that simulator. Don't pull that yellow handle though, could put a hole in the roof...

Seriously, good deal and good luck!

As one who has just started my Private Pilot training, I can identify with you. I hope you are better on rudders than I am.

The first thing you've learned already - aircraft don't fly on jet fuel - they fly on paperwork.

Gosh..I can see so much Beechcraft heritage in that cockpit..so many components look exactly like King Air 200 parts..
