Prayin' for ya bud, keep it up!

You can do it! you'll be in my prayers for sure.
Keep at it one day at a time, one hour if you have to.

That's awesome man, just keep working at it. After about 3 weeks of doing the same thing, it becomes a habit. Once you hit a groove, the renewed energy and physical feeling help keep you motivated.

I'd like to echo a previous comment about finding additional things that you enjoy. You can do this on your off days or when you're burned out on the gym. Bike riding, tennis, shooting hoops, hiking, softball, etc. - anything that keeps you active for specific periods that you really enjoy can make a huge difference.

Iīve been losing a good deal of weight in the last half year too, and I donīt think one has to be very scientific about it. I donīt even weigh myself, just notice the notches on the belt I have to tighten evermore. smile

Important things:

Do excercise that you think is FUN. For me it is squash, I just donīt even notice the effort when I run around after that damnī little rubber ball.

Be disciplined about what you eat. Going hungry is not against the Geneva Convention. I have very few rules and break them once in a while, but manage more or less to stick to them. My rules are: No junk food/sugary drink. No sweets. No sugar in my tea. Eat sensibly, i.e. no overstuffing myself, no evidently unhealthy foods.

Donīt overstress your body. In the beginning it is not used to much excercise. Many stop excercising because they get a strain injury, so just take it easy early on. Youīll realise when your body hardens up and can take more. Up the effort, but donīt overdo it from sheer enthusiasm about your progress.

- The benefits have been tremendous and really worth it. I can buy ordinary clothes, I feel much better about myself, all activities (including sex) are much better.

Now I donīt get why I was overweight for some years. It was really easy to lose the weight, had I known I would have done it earlier! It actually feels nice to punish myself a little when it comes to food when I remind myself of all the benefits.

Here it is day 3

Woke up at 6:30am (holy crap cant believe i did it) headed off to the gym to do some bike riding.

1st day I rode for an hour made 9miles with 208 calories burnt and a heart rate of 135 to 145.

Today I rode for an hour and covered 11.5 miles and 358 calories burnt with heart rate of 145 to 153 right were the trainer dude told me i should be. God my ass is killing me

weighed in today weighed 406, immediately got depressed thinking i should be going down by now but alas i am just gonna have to be patient with the process. trainer dude told me it will flux a bit.

Now comes the delima. Just how much time should i be putting in. So far of the last 3 days i have put in an hour a day with days on the bike and one in the weight room. Wish the insurance company would cover the trainer dude, I don't have the 1800 bucks it will cost for 36 1 hour sessions with him.

Oh well will continue on trying to figure it all out.

Thanks again guys for this outlet.

The only advice I can give you... don't weigh yourself every day - maximum once per week. And don't expect to see huge changes immediately, your body needs time to get used to the new regime. You didn't put on extra weight overnight, and it won't disappear overnight. But like so many people here already said, it's worth it - and you are worth it.

There's tremendous progress going from 9 miles in an hour to 11.5 miles in the same time. That's a more than 25 per cent increase.

I don't know if it's a possibility where you live, but wouldn't it be possible to ask your doctor to write a letter to your insurance explaining you need the trainer - 1800 is a relatively small investment considering it could save other, higher costs later on?

Good luck, Moses!

the trainer dude should just be needed for the first few times, to tell you what to do. I mean, it is just riding a stationary bike, isn't it? BTW, I like to read a magazine or a book while on a bike, makes the time less boring and maybe even productive.

I always have to use my IPOD to workout with. I even made a playlist with workout music. ZZ Top is great to exercise to. Black Sabbath, Bruce Springsteen (but pick older stuff like Thunder Road and Born to Run) Stuff that has a heavy bass beat to it.
