Hi my Name is Jeff and I am an Overweight Gamer.

Im 5'11 in March of this year I went to the doctor and did a checkup thing and found that i weighed 412 lbs at that point i decided i had to change. So starting right then and there I stopped drink anything but water no sugar trying to change my eating habits of Pizza and Pasta.

I joined a gym Sunday 8/30/09 and went for the first time in probably 15years. I weighed today for the first time since March as of today i am at 404.6 Lbs (in metric i think its a #%&*$#)

My goal in the long run is to get down to 205 to 210 pounds

But for the near term it is to keep going even though as today i felt soo out of place in there.

Pray for me, Keep me in your thoughts cause I am not a very motivated person.

Allright Jeff!

The first couple of weeks are always the worse, but if you've got a good gym and trainer, it'll go a long way to help. Having a buddy or two to help keep you accountable as well will help.

Well today was a good first start

1 hour on the recombent bike i think is what they called it

road for 9 miles probably coulda did 10 but my knees were really getting wobbly

Kept heart rate up to 135 to 140 ran it the last 30 mins at lvl5 resistance

Said i burned 208 calories im not sure if that is total or per hour guess it doesnt matter.

First time i have been on a bike in 20 to 25 years i dont really remember.

I go in tomorrow for my first assessment with my trainer dude.

Need to figure out the time when all the hot chicks are there so I can gross em out with all the sweat pouring off me biggrin

Good for you. Try and find ways to keep yourself motivated. Some people compare photos as they go, log their progress, get family/friends to go work out with them etc. Anything that makes it easier to keep your eye on your goal.

Does your gym do any nutritional advice/counseling? If not, it might be worth looking into, even if as little as checking out some cookbooks or recipes online. You can eat very well while still eating "healthy", and it can make a world of difference on the diet side of things when you are enjoying your meals. wink

That's great. Staying motivated is a little easier than you might think. The first time you go when you really don't feel like and get started, you will realize that it's not so bad. I go three times a week. There is usually one of those days I don't want to go but go anyway. I find that I work even harder on those days that I don't want to go than on the ones I am motivated to go on.

After going about 3 weeks, you will see lots of changes in your body and that will help to make you even more determined.

It's not easy, but the results are worth it. You'll feel much better about yourself, and have far more energy than you thought possible.

There is little in life as difficult as reshaping your body. My hat's off to you. Stay at it. If you have a set-back don't let that knock you off track. Just put it aside and get back on with it.

Good for you !

STAY AT IT!!!! Make sure you keep your self on track....dont let yourself think that because you are working out, you can eat the bad crap still.....my wife tried that on me and it doesnt work. The hardest part for me was changing my eating habits. To be honest, after the first week and a half, it was easy to say no to all the garbage food (havent eaten at a fast food joint in about 2 months :D) Do what works for you but the thing you need to do most is keep yourself on track.

moses you're up there on the weight but you're doing the right thing and i guarantee if you keep it up you will be astonished at how fast you lose weight. they say the heavier you are the faster the first few dozen pounds come off.

a year ago i was nearly 200lbs which is way overweight for my height. i have lost about 40lbs and have barely been trying, with lots of lapses in diet and exercise.

one tip: eat healthy food! it really does help. don't start letting cheat meals or snacks into your diet. it will slow down your weight loss.

tip two: exercise. find some kind of exercise that you actually enjoy doing besides just going to the gym. for me i bought a road bicycle and a set of dumbbells. the dumbbells have the side effect of making my arms nice and strong which has been a bonus for dating, and the cycling is very easy to do because you are sitting down, but it builds leg muscle and cardio strength as well as burning lots of calories.

tip three: DON'T STOP. if you stop for a week you undo progress you have made for the past 3 weeks.

if you keep it up you will lose weight pretty fast. keep going!

Ok went to do my assessment today found out i have about 46% bady fat. weighed this morning and was at 404 so but BP was higher at 155/87. He showed me what I need to be working on weights and exercises, I felt good after 30 mins of what we did somethings are hard 2 very bad knees so stretching was a real pain but the weights weren't as bad as i figured they might be.

Just found out the cost of keeping the trainer and im not sure i can afford it. very expensive if i get to looking good i know where i might go to do for my next career LOL.

Thanks folks for the encouragement and good words, I think i have gotten to a point to continue this, just scares me still trying to get over how self conscious i am now. Just getting out there and doing the work, in the long run is going to be good.

We had a thread here a while ago by Gomez(?) who lost quite a bit, but not as much as you need to. Check it out and good luck.
