http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8217800.stmFile-sharing website The Pirate Bay (TPB) is back online after its former internet service provider (ISP) was forced to take down the site. Stockholm district court made the order on 21 August, saying ISP Black Internet would be fined 500,000 kronor (£43,000) if it did not comply.
The court order was the result of legal action brought against The Pirate Bay by the music and film industry. However, TPB was back online within a few hours with a new carrier. In a press release, parodying Winston Churchill's famous speech of 1940, the Pirate Bay team said they would keep the site running "for years if necessary".
"We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the baywords.org, we shall fight on the /. and on the digg, we shall fight in the courts; we shall never surrender," according to the release.

I'll just duplicate one of my own posts-
There's actually a line you're beginning to cross- just by saying that their site is back up, you're not making any more points, but sort of making an awareness campaign for those guys, using SimHQ as your outlet to do it.
If these guys want to help industry by helping making music and games and music available for free to the public, then why don't they ask permission to help them out, why don't they propose a partnership to do it? Because that's not what they're about, and they know it- they don't care at all about helping anyone out, those arguments about freedom of speech or giving obscure outfits a chance at publicity is complete BS. They'd just as soon as rip off the little guy as anyone, since the core of their philosophy is that intellectual property can't be owned by the creator of the work; another sure tell sign is that they adopt the pirate imagery themselves- they even think of themselves as pirates and they openly advertise that to begin with. Then invoking WC as in WW2? A little bit of a self-aggrandizing martyr complex to boot.
Not that it matters- I can think a couple of others here are pretty much immune to their own self-reflection on this score- instead of just saying, 'yeah, I want stuff for free, I'll take it when I can get it,' they have to pretend that there's some David and Goliath battle of good vs evil going on. You'd have to be a dimwit to really believe that- since it's the perpetrators of facilitating ripping people off are being made into the victims in all of this.

The odd thing is that it's not the high priced stuff that's being ballied about on TPB; it's the 99 cent .mp3 and the twenty dollar movie DVD that makes up the bulk of their traffic.
The argument that it's delivering otherwise unaffordable culture and information to the masses is bunk - as you write, it's about getting something for nothing, with nothing being the only price the TPB customer will pay.
While I have no doubt there's a Che t-shirt wearing minority that truly believe that personal property is a bunk idea, the vast majority is just cheapskates looking for an easy steal.
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

Sure- cheapskates, and kids who don't care about the supposed political 'arguments' of freedom of speech or corporate domination- they just want to play the game. Finally, you have people who just get off on the idea that they're doing something so ooooh, forbidden and subterranean, sticking it to the man and becoming a hero to all these people in this weird subculture.
