I picked up an Esquire Magazine and found this article. I found it in 1967 as a student in Air Force flight school one Sunday. I had no idea what a Vertical Rolling Scissors was but there is all was in an article brilliantly illustrated by Ken Dallison, a man who as a boy stood in his yard and watched the Battle of Britain.

In our next set, we have one of my favorite missions, MiG Parts. The name refers to a joke made by Bob Hope at a show at Ubon when he referred to the 8th Tac Fighter Wing as the "largest distributor of MiG parts in the world". McDonnell Douglas loved it and applied it to all Phantoms.

The first two pages compare the Phantom to the WWI Spad. The second two describe a dogfight near Hanoi between two F-4C's from Da Nang and two MiG-21's who were going after an EB they were escorting. Mr. Dallison went to Seymour-Johnson to interview them and draw the Phantom. The whole article was a lead in to a long story about Robin Olds and the Air War in Vietnam which was just two years old at the time.

I loved the artwork and the simple way it tells a story fast without losing any of the action or violence. I carried it for some reason and YAP must be it.

We put you in #2, Joe Latham's seat, on the left. You know you are going to be jumped from 6 o'clock. You just don't know when. Then since you never know how a Third Wird mission is going to turn out, anything can happen.

It's a great A2A mission and you WILL NEED GAS to get home.

Nice, huh? The In-Game version is amazing.
