This might be a "DUH" ,but....I found that if I go into my "missions" folder ( in "data" folder & find the 3 files I've just created in this utility & then make a folder with an appropriate title & put them inside this new folder , it makes them easier to find in the in game menu esp. if I've made folders for each of the aircraft as well. Yes it works!

It's great especially for getting some gunnery practice in. I used IL2's QMB extensively for that, often at the start practising on unarmed or friendly bombers or transports, just so I could work out what I was doing. Oh! that is a good idea, setting up the mission with friendly planes for easy target practice. Perfect for learning how to get in close and placing you shots where you intend. Can't really do that against active AI.

Can't really do that against active AI. True but that's exactly what you'll have to do eventually. It's good just to get good at target practice but then you'll need to practice on moving targets (actively evading you) for it to do you any good. Of course you already know this.

Dietz, if you load your QMB into the ROF mission builder you can change the date and time as well as other things but the date and time is very easy. Set mine up for Dusk, nice sunset Would attach a picture here if I knew how.

It's an amazing piece of software, and very useful. Maybe at a later stage , it could become a full mission editor, where you can put in all those buildings, aircraft, artillery and so on. That would be cool, very cool........ Keep up the good work!

Need an update to include the new Albatross DIII. I second that motion. That quick mission builder has made big difference in my enjoyment of ROF.

You can open the Dogfights made by the QMB and change the individual aircraft on each side.
Run the Mission Editor and open the QMB Dogfight. Click the expand button at top left by the little green squarerepresenting the mission. Each aircraft should be listed for each side. Click on an aircraft and you can change "model" (i.e., aircraft type) and then from the submenu you can change skin and AI rating. I use this to make mixed flight because the Germans often operated mixed formations. You can also change weather, turbulence and wind strength/direction etc (but IIRC, the wind direction is the bearing the wind is blowing to, not from).
The D.III appears in the editor, post-patch. So just make a dogfight with, say D.Vas in, then change them in the editor to D.IIIs.
Cheers,
RD.

Not underground. Consider it more akin to being sequestered in order to dedicate the necessary time without worry of serious financial loss.
Hang tough. this should be well worth the wait.

Lots of options to create missions. That's the good news.
Two things I've noticed:
1. My squadron mates fail to engage (set on random). Any idea how to encourage them?
2. One (just one!) short burst from any enemy (even with enemy AI set at low) and it's a pilot kill and catastrophic damage to my plane. If I let him get a single shot, it's game over. That sniper shooting ain't right....The challenge, of course, is to keep him from getting a shot but if he does I'm dead as soon as he shoots.

Hello Laser,
I love your dogfight generator – don’t fly anything else for the moment – but there is one thing that I don’t like, or may be doing wrong. As soon as I’ve shot down my opponent in a 1 to 1 fight, the mission is terminated automatically. I can’t go on sightseeing or simply landing. I looked into the configuration files but could not find a solution. The previous version did not do this. Can I turn the automatic mission termination off?
Thanks in advance. Yes you can - you'll have to edit the template you want to use (or all) in the official ME and search for the 'mission end' object. There are 2 counters there and, when one goes to 0 by killing planes, it triggers (through a 10 sec timer) the mission end. You can either increase the timers to a very large value (seconds), or simply delete those timers - in this case you can edit the subtitle objects to delete the ' ... mission ends in 10 seconds' part. S!

Excellent work, Laser. I modified the QMBs in the Mission Editor for weather changes and to use the new aircraft. All works very well, and I am a computer idiot. Wanted to get the natural playmates, the N.17 and Albatross D.III, together for some Bloody April 1917 fighting. I have yet to shoot anything down in ROF, a credit to the demands of this great sim, but my AI Albatri filled the sky with N.17 confetti. You may also check the beta of the next version, is announced here in this forum and you can download it from 777 Studios site. S!

HT I noticed that too in the training missions, and the pre-canned ones. The campaign, not so much. I don't believe it is the QMB doing this, but a seperate AI for non-campaign missions. As I started out with 1.007 a week ago, I don't know what it was like before...

I'm a beta tester for RoF and for Laser's QDF Generator and can honestly say I find it to be one of the best things to really start to make this sim interesting. I've no doubt the developers are burning the midnight oil (literally) to make steady and consistent improvements on their baby, but additions like this only make it better. Make sure you pass it on to as many people you know that have the sim as it should increase their enjoyment exponentially by using Laser's app. And that's not an advertisement as much as it is a testimonial.
