I used that guide and game still having major performance issues... frame rate is all over place and there is severe lag spikes.

I used it (again, after several years), and it worked superbly - again. Much smoother performance, increased fps. The bonus is that using his nHancer settings has improved graphics performance and appearance of a few other sims. And solved a significant previously insoluble problem with the new ArmA 2: tnear distance trees and shrubs were uniformly a sickly whitish grey regardless of nVidia card and in game settings. The FSX settings for nHancer corrected this problem - and improved frame rates.

FWIW Mine is a very first generation purpose built FSX machine that is for the most part all 2+ year old hardware. By using the tweaks from that post I have no complaints about how FSX performs or looks on this aging system.
