Hello all,

I have searched for an IRC channel where we can all meet up in an easy chat fashion to ask questions, meet for an online game or just chat.
At Globalgamers.net I have registered the #RiseofFlight channel.
And how to join:

• 1st option to check out the chatroom would be using the webinterface at GlobalGamers Webchat Change gg-guest into Callsign and hit connect (java required)
• The second option (and preferred for the experienced user) is to use a IRC client like mIRC to connect to a Globalgamers irc server and join #RiseofFlight

I have send of an email to SHQ to request that they think about setting up their own IRC server not only for rof, but for all the others as well.

PS. I have registered the channel, but will be gone for the next coupla hours. If there are experienced IRC dudes around PM me, and I can Opp you guys.

Neoqb has a dedicated Teamspeak channel where I've had some good chats with a few folks.

Sadly, it's usually a bit of a ghost town with tumbleweeds rolling down the dusty street.

More people should try it.

Whether you choose to fly with it or not, it's a good place to hang out.

We had a dedicated TS server in Steel Beasts Pro (the world's most accurate and realistic tank sim used to train vehicle crews in many real armies BTW) and since most of the players were either active or former military (many tankers) from many countries, there were some great barracks room conversations going on all the time.

Would be nice to see something similar for RoF. The TS softeware is free and the RoF channel already is there:

Thing is,

When you're on an irc chat, you can do whatever you want, work whatever. You can be passively present and when you come back from work/coffee break/shopping there's always the chat to review form the period you've been away but logged in.
TS, while GREAT when you're up for a flight needs constant monitoring since it's all voice.

So my personal preferred is to monitor an irc channel when i'm busy doing other stuff, and head on over to a TS server (Neoqb's or Homedrome's) when i'm ready to fly.

So in other words, IRC doesn't replace TS at all, it's different medium not requiring full attention. They supplement each other.

Not to mention that after spending the day at work, the thought of spending my evening with even more people gobbing off in my ears makes me shudder!

I changed the url for the webchat after a tip in the chatroom.

Now you only need to type in your callsign where it says gg-guest.

After a slow beginning it's starting to fillup at time. When its empty, just hang around and people will show up.
