I'm getting really tired of the same-o threads with the same-o topics.

So, let's freshen up the list of topics to endlessly debate to give some variety!

My first is our old friend, the Sopwith Snipe. Great plane, but seriously, should we really see it in France? Most production models were held back in the UK to deal with Zepplins, and the few that made it into the land of snails and champagne barely had the doping dried before the ink on the Versailles treaty got wet.

It's the Me-262 of WWI - too few too late to make a serious impact. Heck, it's an RAF plane far more than an RFC one.

Bombs for all pilots! Okay, they're actually grenades or mortar rounds, but I think we should have the option of carrying a couple to throw at the sloggers and their tents. Chances are they won't do much damage, but it's a nice way to express one's sentiments while flying over.

What's with all the trucks? Sheesh, it's awful mechanized down there! Make the horses invulnerable, but detached from the wagons and running off or something if the ratings is a concern for some countries (!), but we need them.

Any other topics we haven't hit on yet?

The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events.

Flyable two-seaters (Bristol Fighter!, Roland CII) and bombers (Gotha, Handley Page) where each position can be manned by an individual player in multiplayer.
(Players in all positions should be optional. Vacant positions should be filled by AI. Switching positions a la IL2 should be possible.)

But we'd need real MP first.

My dream is to see zeppelins. And have a person able to switch between gunner seats to crew the zep smile

We need a good planset that covers the right times. 1918 is looking okay at the moment, but we need more 1917 & 1916 planes.

I would think that Scouts take priority over 2 seaters at least till we have one plane from each faction for each of the above years.

The Zepplins, whilst cool, were only used sparingly, and as we dont have a map of the British Isles, I can wait.

I agree on the horse drawn and the need for other "furniture" such as barges, troop collums and populated trenches.

That request for info on barges the other week/month. Was that for RoF or perhaps SoW

Plenty of canals and waterways in RoF

Lock-keepers, horse-drawn barges

More buildings for navigation, there's hundreds of churches in France

Higher-resolution terrain, always a good addon

The reason why I think non-scouts are an essential addition for multiplayer is that dogfights without a purpose are going to become boring pretty soon.
What makes IL2 multiplayer interesting are the map objectives and bomber escort/interception.

Farm life (workers, animals etc). I don't care if they're static.
Surely all that land had to be worked on by someone?

Livestock etc, is great eye candy, but is it critical to mission design?

I think the developres need to concentrate on getting the MP and single player issues sorted. Any requests for multiple new aircraft are pointless until the sim itself works much better online and in single playr.

At the moments multiplayer servers are few and far between, only a dozen people playing online is not a sign of a successful release. The single player campaigns are abysmal right now, no sense of belonging to a squadron/jasta. Seven aircraft in the air is not a good way to portray the western front airwar. A handful of trucks, trains or tanks on your mission route is not immersive.

Having said that I have faith that Neoqb will get these issues sorted. Simply adding more planes to the sim the way it is now will be the wrong way forward. It is no point having dozens of flyables if the MP issues and SP issues are not sorted. At the moment RoF is a stunning sim technically, it just has no content to keep the interest high IMHO.

I expect plane sails to fund further development. (or hope so at least).

But I agree that multiplayer needs to be sorted. We desperatly need that translated mission editor documentation. Then at least the community can pitch in with some more user created missions. (kudos to those that have already released them).

What i want to see is a join in progress "dogfight server" with a number of airfields to choose to take off from. Populated by randomly generated AI flights as well as other players.

Throw in some randomly generated ground units, ballons, AAA, etc and you have an ongoing areana where people can turnup and immerse themselves in this fantastic engine. From what ive seen all this can be acoomplished as long as Neoqb address the current limitations on MP.

Ultimatley though, what drove IL2 into longevity though was its vast selection of aircraft. (and multiplayer accesibilty/variety).

I agree with tidbits of the above posters...I would like flyable two seaters bombers and scouts. The campaign does need a lot more going on. if you fly off route, there is literally NOTHING going on. no cars, no planes, no trains...its all preset based on your route..fighters and bombers show up at the exact same place everytime you play the same mission (ive restarted a few times rather than end my career after a crash).

Also I would like to see the MP get fixed. I agree, a few servers half of them password protected to boot, is not enough for me. how bout getting dogfight implemented so we dont have to restart and wait for each coop mission to load over and over again??

I'd agree with the posters above generally Smile2. More content isn't more planes necessarily, though can understand Neoqb need or want the revenuse stream, and they must release the two promised in any case - Se5s, PfalzD3.

I think they also need to provide a Quick Mission Builder. Even when I played Il2 online, I used that just as much for fun, passing the time or a lot of practise. In many ways I think this is the most critical missing part. Stock/user built missions are not a replacement imo.

Good thing is they can work on more than one aspect of the sim at a time, so no request is pointless. Therefore, my request is for two-seaters. Not just the Biff or the Breguet but the real workhorses of WW1 aviation--arty and obs planes. Even if AI only. I've seen some in progress from the KOTS days; hopefully they'll make the sim.

I'll list several off the top of my head; I'll include bombers, too. Obviously, the preponderance of simmers want to fly scouts so I don't expect many two-seaters in the immediate future, but their eventual presence in-sim would go a long way toward expanding ROF's historical accuracy.

(List is not conclusive and includes types flown prior to 1918):

I'm wondering the same FSM, I stupidly ordered mine by slow post thinking I wouldn't have time to play it for a couple of weeks, then I fractured my ankle and have been off work for the best part of 3 weeks, I've spent two and a half weeks of that time looking out the window to see if the posties been, but no luck so far, ah well should be back at work in a day or two so no doubt it will arrive in about three days banghead

I suppose you mean SPAD S.XII, the infamous "canon" Spad, developped with the help of Guynnemer, that was only given to master pilots (with its 37mm canon)....
