I had ventured to the YAP site, but could not find a SUPPORT liase. I sent the identified address, but the postmaster promptly rejected the transmission. So,,,,,I am back at the Forum again seeking life on Planet Earth to assist in the simple installation of YAPv2.

My summary of events and outline of frustrations is as follows as translated from the email intended for the YAP support team.

Hello

I have been in PM contact with zerocinco and 8 L.E.I.N.at the technical thread regarding very frustrating installation problems.

My first attempt was over my CD WOV (Bold Games) version. Yet after a dismal crash after installation, I learned NOT to install YAP into a WOV folder that already was patched to the ThirdWire WOV patches for September and October 2008. I then tried to uninstall and ADD/REMOVE the setup. This did not assist in the installation of a new WOV CD version as I was continually asked if I wanted to uninstall the program. I still had a folder, which was renamed Wings, containing material I had collected for WOV from the Thirdwire SimHQ site. I did not want to lose my material. The CD version continued not to respond to setup or Launch.

Exasperated, I went to the ThirdWire site and purchased a download version. I reinstalled YAP to this new, clean, location, applying only the patches and program information on the YAP CD. This version also failed to launch, crashing to desktop immediately. I subsequently learned that the download version available at Thirdwire was patched to October 2008. Therefore a YAP install would NOT work. I did venture to launch, configure both the NEW download installs so as to initialize them into my system or registry. This meant nothing as the CD installer still sought to uninstall something and the YAP program would not accept the new factory installations as being too new.

I went back to the original WOV install, now called WINGS and deleted the entire folder and all contents. I still had TWO download WOV versions acquired from my download from Thirdwire. The elimination of the folder DID NOT help. The CD installer still requested if I wanted to uninstall the existing program.

In checking ADD/Remove, there are TWO WOV installations on the system. Both are dated 10 July. I deleted one and changed the name of the other. I am still unable to install from the CD version and thus facilitate the YAP installation.

Please advise how I can achieve this installation. What work around is there to circumvent the supposed Sept/October ThirdWire updates that BLOCK the YAPv2 installation and setup?? What is the secret code of operations???

First I dont doubt your mailer-demon, however I just tested the support address and its working normally.

Your whole problem started when you tried to install YAP2 to the 08 patch version.

When the CD asks if you want to uninstall, let it. Then start from scratch.

Do as stated prior. Remove from the add/remove programs, delete remaining folders. Rename your other WOV folders you wish to keep, something else, "myXXXWOVXXX" or something.

There is no work around for YAP2 with the Sept/Oct patched version of WOV. They will not co-exist without a ton of reworking most of the YAP2 content.

Make sure you type in yankeeairpirate in the email address bar instead of yankeeairPATROL like you did in this post
