I received on 9 July my copy of YAPv2 (minus edition). On Friday, 10 July, I attempted to install the "right way. I installed the patches in sequence into my WOV folder. I then installed the YAP program files. I attempted a launch which crashed immediately to desktop. Looking at the YAP site I discovered that NO, do not install YAP into a WOV folder which has been previously updated with the September and October 2008 updates. Mine had those updates, plus several other addons compiled at SimHQ.

After many frustrating half hours on and off, I gave up as the existing CD WOV would not reinstall no matter what I did to try and clear the system. So, I purchased a ThirdWire download of WOV, the first standalone edition, not the StrikeFighers version3. I now had YAP and a belated plus.

I installed a "clean" and virgin WOV into F Drive, far away from corrupting influences in C Drive. I applied NO OTHER PATCHES OR ADDONS to the program. I ran it to initialize it and configure it. I then installed YAPv2. Both Patches and then the Program Files in that sequence.

I then went to the F Drive WOV folder, selected the WOV executable, and got a black screen that again went to desktop.

SO WHAT IS THE SECRET CODE FOR INSTALLING AND LAUNCHING YANKEE AIR PATROL???

WOV----patches-----YAPv2

In some games it helps if you do a quick flight after each install. Sets up pilot profile etc plus lets you know if it's working so far.

5555,

Honestly? Delete everything for WOV from your add/remove programs. Go into your program folder and delete any remaining folders pertaining to WOV and start over again reinstalling.

That first stand alone version of WOV from 3rd wire had already been patched to October 2008. Thats why the installation problems with YAP persisted.

Do a seperate install of your stock WOV CD. Then install the YAP files which you did correctly.

Keep your OCT 08 patched game seperate.

Any more problems with the YAP stuff, contact www.support@yankeeairpirate.net

5555 reports he had a registry snafu. All is in order now.
