I just got an e-mail. The A-Team at Capun Skunk Works has released the Camel and DRI. The notes say they are tuned for the Normal mode as they are tricky to rig and fly in Hard mode.

This is all great- really fine models and a challenge!

I'm willing to bet someone will try to tune and fly in hard before New Years day!

Meanwhile a hearty thanks to the Capun Skunk Works for two great models!

Thanks for the great addons.
Dr1 loads and flys great
Camel goes all the way thru the loading screen then kicks me back to desktop or locks up computer.

EDIT
Just redownloaded and reinstalled and same problem. Selected camel in Single mission. have tried three different single missions and always locks up or ctd with camel. Have all your other addons and no problems.

Third time was a charm. Downloaded again. Uninstalled and reinstalled everything and camel now flys.
Must have been a couple of corrupt downloads.
All's ok now.
thanks again for great planes. I like the tri-plane. Now for some nice skins???

Ok, some largish screenshots, first off the Camel:

4 Squadron Australian Flying Corp

3 Squadron Royal Flying Corp

10 Squadron Royal Naval Air Service

And then the Dr1:

Manfred Von Richtofen's machine in one of the many schemes it wore in early 1918.

Manfred's brother Lothar who was no slouch himself with 40 kills.

Joseph Jacobs (4th highest German scorer).

Merry Christmas to The Community in general and to all of our members in particular. \:\)

Camel... Did it roll like a bat out of hell???

Well, being so unstable, I bet the camel at least started the roll extremely quickly at least in the direction of the "torque" forces.

Now, the Dr.1 Triplane, I bet, would have had a very fast roll rate due to its short wings...that is one reason why they were made that way...and in addition, its instablility would have helped the Dr.1s roll rate to be fast.

A Team, WELL DONE! \:\) I just had the pleasure of flying both aircraft and thoroughly enjoyed the experiance. I love the rotary engines and sound; they SOUND like a small old time engine, lol. They actually remind me of a small 1903 marine steam engine we had on the ranch in Ca. that was converted to run on gas. The sound, once the engine was up to speed, was quite similar. I also noticed the DR1 tends to turn better to the right which I understand is realistic. I seemed to be able to out-turn the Camels in that direction. The cockpit controls seemed very cool, loved the artwork Wrench, and the paint jobs were very nice.

THREE thumbs up...

@Pitts2a Richard Ordway

Yeah the Dr1 has a nice fast but not over the top roll rate. Imho that plane is spot on to what one could expect.

I know the camel was unstable and I do asume the rotary engine had alot of torque effect on the plane but... the fm of this camel doesnt have that big torque effect but it does have a very fast roll rate..

But then again lowering the roll rate and increasing torque might prove undoable as you get more torque then you can "roll back"... resulting in no roll to the left on full throttle...

When flying in "Single Missions"/"Create Mission", after selection and "accept" of aircraft and in the Hanger and selecting "loadout" for a different pilot, I thought a plane paint scheme to match would appear in the single mission: I do not get any skin/paint scheme except Manfried's (green and red). In the missions provided with the download, I am able to select pilot and the proper skin/paint scheme appears in the mission. Is this supposed to be this way or am I doing something wrong in the "Loadout" selection menu.
Thanks for the great planes, BadBud

Oh my goodness!

What a splendid looking pair of aircraft! I'm off to skunkworks now to D/L them!
