Harry, have you ever hiked from Paso Robles to the coast ? We did that from Camp Roberts once when we were there evaluating a National Guard unit. Quite a hike, but the view when you crested was awesome. Looking out at the Pacific from those mountains was beautiful.

Did a lot of training just north of you at Fort Hunter-Liggett; King City.

From here to the coast would be a long hike (and no real direct trails, alas), it would be a great bike ride though, I've been bike riding lately so something to work up to.

Hunter-Liggett area is beautiful. Been there once when visiting Mission San Antonio. The area around Lake San Antonio is also very beautiful, just S. of Hunter-Liggett, we were there just a couple of weekends ago. Classic California scenery, rolling golden hills and oak trees.

San Diego certainly is a very nice place to visit. I spent a day down there at the zoo last week on a date, and the weather couldn't had been nicer.
