Funny/sad story...

I bought my first xbox 360 about a year after first released, a month later i bought another one for another room... then 6 to 9 months later BOTH xboxes gave me the red light crash... i sent both in to M$ for fixing... bought a new xbox 360 with better circuits and hdmi... then 51 weeks ago i bought a xbox 360 elite, black... so i get the first 2 back and fixes, they go into my girls rooms... i have the elite on my main living room system, and the other hdmi at my pc station...

fast forward to last week... BOTH the elite an the hdmi 360's start locking up within 2 mins of turning on... switched tv's, cables, power packs, network adapter, and harddrives... stripped them both and both still lock up...

I check with M$, i have one more week left on my warranty for the elite black 360, just in time, so its on its way for repair... the other one is SOL.

now I'm back onto my original xbox till elite is repaired... what r the odds of two x-box 360's crashing at the same time, TWICE... i guess with M$ anythings possible. lol

So you can rule that out, we have pretty good power systems for day to day use in USA/Canada.
It's the storm outages and brownouts that can hurt, I try and keep a UPS on my PC/Console gear.

Planned Obsolescence? I hope the next generation 360 is more reliable than the last. On the other hand, if you get approximately one year of steady use from a game console with a price point of $200-400, is it worth it? I'm starting to have trouble with my 360 and it has been in service a little over one year, with low to medium use. With that said, I enjoy the 360 and the Xbox Live service.

With 4 boxes you should never go without! When a 360 is repaired, what kind of warranty do you get from Microsoft in terms of time?

That makes no sense to me, but my own history with 360's isn't great. We've just come out of warranty on the first 360 we purchased 3.5 years ago at Christmas. Every time we've sent it back, they've extended the warranty by a month or so when returned.

So the math doesn't make me feel very comfortable that this thing is gonna last very long !!! I've actually now forgot, whether this is the 4th or 5th unit.

I tried purchasing an intercooler, but after looking at it I figured it would block the airflow more than help it.
