I'm using one. Haven't done any FPS testing on it. But RoF seems smooth enough with 4xaa 4xaf @1920x1200. I think it is a very good card, especially at the price they are now. Most benchies put them above a GTX260 in performance. But they are now just over £100 in the UK now smile

I only have the 500mb version, but my system runs smooth with most settings on High. I turned off the post-processing as saw no real gain with it on.

You mean 512mb. The 1GB version only helps at resolutions above 1680x1050 and when using FSAA.

GPUs are able to do much more than render frames these days

Local memory (on the card, close to the action) can be used for other tasks, 512MB possibly in that case. Quite handy future-proofing

I'm running an ATI Palit Radeon 4850 with settings maxed and ROF runs great, your 4870 should be fine.

Such as? I've seen the benches comparing 512mb to 1GB and there is still not much benefit to 1GB unless you run at insane resolutions and use FSAA.

Hence his statement "future-proofing".

I am using the HD 4850 512MB pushing max settings. I have an older AMD dual core 4200+ CPU and 2GB of system RAM and XP. Game runs and displays great on my Viewsonic 21 inch CRT.

Toadvine, this is great to hear because I was afraid that my Athlon 64 X2 6400+ could face some problems in handle this game.
I think now my CPU and a HD4870-1Gb or maybe a HD4890-1Gb should handle RoF well.
