Hi!
I got ROF on Monday. After setting up my control and struggling with the ROF specific view setup system I finally got a "flyable" setup of the game and my control configuration.
In the beginning I used the single missions Russian Roulette flying the Fokker. This was a bit frustrating, because of first AI opponent was quite difficult to shoot down.
Last night I tried multiplayer on the Petersburg server.
It was a lot more easier to fight against real guys also making their first steps in the simulation than against the AI.
Apart from that, when I get a new Sim I alway choose the most realistic settings and do not bother with the arcade or beginners settings in order to learn the real stuff as quickly as possible. In spite of this I turned simplified gauges on in order to check the behaviour of radiator and mixture control.
My suggestion is to not waste too much time on the single player mode for initial practice, but get into multiplayer soon.
1. It is less frustrating and more rewarding.
2. It helps building up online play.
