I am currently using a TrackIR 3 Pro with the 6 Degree Expansion.

When I start a flight, my view is looking up and to the right. When I hit F12 to center it takes me back to the up and to the right view. I have disabled the F9 key strokes in my map fils as well as the F12 key in the map file. I have also disabled all mouse look controls in the map file.

Whenever I rest my view.............right back to the up and to the right view.

Any ideas here?

Nope, still the same thing. I have removed ALL of the Joystick and Function key maps. Same result. Not sure what the issue is since it works fine in FSX and FS9.

Have you tried changing the TrackIR key for centering to something other than F12? I use Keypad Enter and trap it in the TrackIR Profile.

Ark, I'm using the same TiR setup (see sig) without issue. I suspect you accidently hit F10 while in a dogfight or something similar and accidently saved a skewed view. (i've done it many times myself)

While I certainly understand the desire to "streamline" your custom input file, I'd also recommend being cautious. You'll want a "reduntant/backup" plan with control assignments in case anything goes amiss...

Do this:

Jump in a mission (use single -> freefly) don't hit any keys while mission loads ( you can sneak a few in before pressing P to unpause)...

After you do press P, center your view with your TrackIR key - (keep your head still or turn TiR off) and use the mouse to realign the view forward.

You can also fine-tune adjust it with home/end/insert/Pageup/PgDn/delete - after you get it where you like - press F10 and ROF will save that as your default TiR centering view.

(And what custom views are set for one aircraft type - are not set for all types)


If you cannot use the mouse to realign, then you may have taken out too many other assignments in your custom map.

Also, to help prevent this from happening again, you may want to change the default "Save Snap" from F10 to R_CTRL+F10

Jason, I tried mapping to "5", as well as other keys, but the same thing happens......re-centering the view puts me off looking at some other wierd angle and I can't re-center forwards.

Brian, I saved a copy of the default profile and have tried using the default key map with no changes, my modified key map with mouse movement and Function key maps removed, and a different key map file with only F12 removed so it does not interfere with the centering of the TrackIR unit. Same result......TrackIR re-centers to some wierd angle and I am unable to re-center. I followed your suggestion and nothing changed.

Deleting all the mouse movement keys and the F9/F12 keys in-game helped, but I still simply can not re-center forwards.

In fact I can't even look around in RoF with my TrackIR, I am always stuck looking off at some wack angle no matter what I do or what setting I change.

If you can't use trackir with ROF AT ALL then your TrackIR software is not seeing ROF. Do you see ROF listed in the TrackIR supported games? What TrackIR software are you using?

TrackIR is functioning in RoF, but I can't really look around anywhere (without it going all wonky like it is losing tracking), nor can I center the view to a forward position. I see RoF in the list of supported games in the TrackIR menu when I start it up. I have tried using the pre-existing RoF TrackIR setting, as well as creating my own. I have also tried it with TrueView on and off. I tried the last set of trackIR drivers as well as the newest non-beta set. Nothing seems to fix this issue.

The issue is, no matter what I do, when I try to re-center, the view just re-centers to some wierd angle, ie., 45 degree up and to the right for instance.

I am somewhat baffled since this TrackIR unit works fine in FSX, FS9, Lock-On, Blackshark, IL-2, WWIIOL, etc..

I don't know what else to do.

Ark, i had same problem and couldn`t overcome this issue until i swapped the drivers to latest beta.. Not sure if it will work for TIR3, but sure worked for 4PRO with pro clip, i got 6DOF working and everything else... Great GUI too
