Hi all, I just ROF today (game is great, I have a load of fun just being shot down lol)

Did the training, flew several career missions. Then when I clicked on the multiplayer to see what that was like, there was only one server open......in Russia........with two people.

So where are all the servers? Or did I miss something?

Also, how good do the Core2 quads work with this game? I'm using a C2Duo overclocked to 3.8ghz and it is strained pretty easily with this game. Microcenter isn't too far from here, and I can get a nice Q9550 for $165, so should I? (I probably will anyways, this C2D is the biggest bottleneck in my system.

Oh, and is it just me, or does this game take a ridiculously long time to load?

1) Make your own server and hope the Field of Dreams theory works out.
2) Yes, load times are stupid long.

Yeah we're all only seeing 1-2 servers for now, until the next patch at least.

Unfortunately I've only seen two people get their servers up and working. I have no idea what the secret is, but hopefully we'll see more soon.

PURE SPECULATION: on the official RoF boards it's been said that the shop to buy planes opens on or before July 7, so I'm suspecting that the next major patch would be rolled out at the same time. Just a hunch.

Sweet, I can't wait to start shooting at some real people. =P

Also, am I doing something wrong, or is the resolution for this game very low? The highest I can set it to is 1280x1024, and my monitor supports up to 1600x900 (16:9, widescreen).

I wouldn't mind a higher resolution, the current one is pretty darn low (still looks great though)

Probably not many of these floating around at the moment. I try to put the server up when I can but to be honest, it's a pain. Most players that join turn on me as if I was responsible for the current state of multi player. My little award here is the only "Tank You" I have seen so far.

It can be fun so here are a few tips to save you some trouble. Do not expect much from the chat. Most of the time it is too cumbersome to use in flight. We can also NOT use the letter M in chat during flight. As soon as you type M, it will open the map and erase your message. Also, the chat text in game is TINY. If you join mid game while I am flying and chat "Hi", there is a 90% chance I will not see it. I do try and open the chat box from time to time to keep tabs.

The other one I can think of is how to end a mission. You need to hit ESC and select Finish Mission after you are down or once all enemy planes are down/finished mission. I have spent a lot of time watching the last man standing flying around as he wonders why the mission is still going. I try to type answers in the chat but... see above. Again, it's not great online but it can be fun.

It's all rough no doubt.

Oh, and let me thank you for weeding through the current issues, and no one should be hassling you about them either!

FR, do you know if Neoqb will list the issues they're working on along with any updates/progress around the time the shop is open on July 7 ?

Glad to see you here Trav, I've enjoyed flying with you what little I've been able to in BlackShark, and when I finally get back home hopefully we'll be able to do the same in Rise of Flight.

I think you are right about the server host awards too. . .I had the same thought about mine when I discovered them. . .not many folks have them right now!

There is a lot going on behind the scenes now, and I expect that it will be easier for people with routers to host soon. I've got my fingers crossed!

Don't know Catch, but their noses are hard to the grindstone working on the update.

Like Eco mentioned, there's lots being done behind the scenes, and some of it for ROF's MP side too.

Ok thanks FR. The sooner Neoqb communicate what they're doing the better. I think a lot of negativity here is more pure frustration at the lack of communication than anything else. Of course, I could be entirely wrong lol.

Catch, maybe they don't have the confidence that Neoqb will continue to support ROF, but I've seen nothing but dogged determination by this team throughout these years, and nothing has changed that impression for me yet.

Maybe they should have sorted out stuff like MP before they released the game? A clever idea,to have a beta,then release another beta,but this time you have to pay for it!

Thanks for those games earlier trav. I was seriously thinking about taking out a assassination hit on myself due to trying to get RoF to work for my setup.

Its great to me that both of my deaths was from stalling out, lol. Well ok, the first one i was shot up decently, engine on fire (all i could see was yellow).

I can see with a few fixes/changes this is gonna be great.

It's all true but consider this. If Oleg let you fly the Storm of War: Battle of Britain beta for the same price as the released RoF, would you go for it

As to your question,I trust Oleg to deliver a bit more than this lot.Hopefully,in time,RoF will mature into something great.

And I thought Storm Of War was just vaporware.

A start-up software company trying to get something out the door quickly to start some revenue flow and thereby support further (largely free) development.

That's how I've logiced the whole RoF thing and I'm willing to take the risks/compromises. Compare this to Marc Miller's "Traveller 5" business model (for the real geeks of you out there) and you'll see it's quite reasonable.
