Wow, Transformers 2 has already made 201 million at the US box office.

I saw it yesterday, and I have to say it is probably the worst piece of cr4p of a movie I have seen in a looong loooong time. No amount of beer could have made it look even decent.

Anybody else noticed how this was just a two and a half hour long recruiting video for the US armed forces ? I believe the entire inventory of the Navy, Marines and Air Force were represented in the film, from US Navy carriers to USMC landing crafts, submarines, Predator UAVs... Almost makes Top Gun look like an anti militaristic movie...

Cheers

Nico

LMAO! I love your review vonBarb. smile

Actually, I've read a few articles online stating that Transformers 2 is probably the most extreme case for a movie that got universally panned by critics but still had an amazing box office performance.

What does this prove to me that I already knew?

That the general movie watching public doesn't give a rats ass what movie critics think!

I saw it yesterday. The movie never really excited me nor pulled me in. The original was much much better.

I hated it. I had a friend offer to take me to see it with her....I passed. Won't see it again.

You know, the more I think about just how sloppy so many of the inconsistencies and mistakes were, the less and less I like it. It's almost as if Michael Bay just said, "OK, let's run with it. No time for editing, or checking for holes or mistakes. Keep going, and just compensate with more explosions."

And Von Barb, I have to agree with you about it being a 2 hour long recruiting movie; the first one was pretty much the Air Force stealing all the glory (Iron Man was the same way- insert appropriate joke about the Air Force 'running the show' in Afghanistan), but this one at least showed some other hardware, even if it wasn't really used.

What is interesting to me is that most likely the vast majority of the movie watching public either didn't notice those mistakes or didn't care!

Why should we? I'm sorry but in my opinion movie critics generally only love the stuff that does really really bad at the box office, or that runs 5 hours long because it captures the "beauty" of what movies used to be about. Movie Critics are generally older folks very much out of touch with reality, and they think waaay too highly of themselves. Last year I went through the MSNBC archives on movie reviews, and I didn't agree with a single review that they posted. Everything they hated I loved and vice versa.

Oh, I dont think we should at all! I'm just amazed at how much some critics get paid simply to write up their opinions on movies. biggrin
