Uh, it's not a case of "feels" but about IS! smile

Then again, that's really the purpose of summer blockbusters anyway.

I have a question for those who have seen the film:

Click to reveal..
Did the Decepticon Soundwave make it into this film? Who revived Megatron?

Answer to your question:

Click to reveal..
Yup, Soundwave was in the movie, primarily in orbit over Earth siccing Decepticons on the world. Megatron was revived by Soundwave's minions I think, with the shard of the cube that they stole from Diego Garcia

I saw the movie last night in IMAX. It was pretty breathtaking in IMAX. Most of the sprawling scenes and fight scenes were presented in full-screen IMAX, it was pretty cool. All the fighting between Transformers got pretty physically draining with all the action after 2-1/2 hours, but it's a summer action film, go figure.

Another question I have:

Click to reveal..

I also did not get the whole "Smithsonian Museum suddenly we're in the Boneyard" thing...did I miss something? Did Jetfire teleport them or something? I mean, even if you don't know the Smithsonian and/or AMARC--who could NOT notice that they went from Washington DC to a mountainous DESERT?!?!?

I also liked how they had Jetfire in the movie, but in the toy world, Jetfire was an F-14 mod (well, really, it was a Macross Veritech fighter from Robotech)--I think it would have been great to have him be an F-14 in the movie too especially since he was supposed to be an older Decepticon-turned-Autobot. How fitting would that be considering the F-14 is retired (and one was sitting in the Smithsonian in one scene)

Another one:

Also, I noticed that when the USS Theodore Roosevelt sinks, while submerged the hull number changes from 71 to 74. It made me think that the Stennis was sunk too--but the Stennis appears later in the film. The underwater shots of the carrier sinking and seeing the Hornets sinking with it amongst crewmen drowning was pretty harrowing, BTW.

Overall, I liked the movie and thought it was good if approached with the "it's a summer action flick--it's not meant to be intellectual." I liked it even better in IMAX.

Best thing about it in IMAX: Megan Fox in tight outfits running in slo-mo
Worst thing about it in IMAX: John Turtorro's thonged butt in your face for so long it felt like slo-mo

I'm going to need therapy after that one!

In the first film, Megatron's vehicle mode appeared to be very close to Jetfire in the cartoon and the way he arrives on earth is exactly how Jetfire arrived in the cartoon. It was like they took Jetfire and rebadged him as Megatron (except for the attitude and loyalties of course)

Ill probably hit it this weekend. I see all my movies at the movie grill now. If it sucks, I just order more pitchers of beer and wings till the movie is good.

Vertigo,

Yeah, probably...it would be pretty lame having Megatron just be a gun like he was in the toy version.

Just saw this last night- my friends and I had a blast for most of it, but then again we went and grabbed a couple of beers beforehand, and brought Mr. Flask along with us to the theaters. I liked the other references they had to Transformers mythology as well.

But I'll let you figure out what those were. wink
