I can not launch the game

I have Vista 64 on this machine. I registered the game and has that site when I Start the Internet.
I click on the icon
It searches for updates and the start game button comes on. [20:22:50] Update finished successfully
[20:22:50] No changes were made
[20:22:49] Checking for updates

Hit Start Game and it crashes and the Window comes up saying "ROF.exe has quiet working" no solution.

What's going on??

Not sure this game is going to be worth it

All games have problems , there are millions of combinations of hardware and software that the PCs can have so don't bash it overall yet i mean obviously most people has it up and running fine which means it's not a major bug.

For a start Vista is a risk on it's own and running 64 bit also asks for more trouble , report it to neoqb or Jason.

Steven190,

I have from time to time had issues with programs using Vista Ultimate x64. The issues often come down to permissions on the directory in question.

I have long used Trillian, however when I went to Vista Ultimate x64 the program would work but the history log would be empty aside from the very 1st chat.

There were 2 resolutions to this. One was to run the application as an Administrator and the other was to give my account modify privileges to the directory.

RE: Administrator. Unlike XP, even if you are a Administrator, when you run applications it will not run them with elevated privileges of an Administrator. To run as an administrator you need to right click and select that option.

A good way to see this is type in CMD to the 'start search' and open normally and then do again with right click and select run as administrator, your will say on the bar C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe and the administrator one will show Administrator: C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe

The other option was via the security tab to add your user account with modify (not full) access. I have found this to be the most practical, especially when I am moding.

Might not be your issue but worth a try.

Steven,

Make sure you install Vista SP1, the Direct X, Visual C++ and .Net code that is provided on the DVD.

And the obvious advice is to make sure you meet the minimum requirements.

ROF works just fine with both of my Vista 64 machines.

With your ROF Game/DVD you should have gotten a single page notice-card telling you what to expect if you have that problem with VISTA. At the very top, in Red, it says Attention: Windows Vista Users
You have to turn OFF your User Account Control...then go through the registration process with ROF.com It's all explained very clearly. I had to do it. Remember after you have ROF working to reset your UAC to ON. This is the very first time I have had to turn it off...lowering one's security...another absurd requirement from the ROF boys!!! Their "security" from 'theft' is our temporary reduction in security.

I followed those UAC instructions and installed ROF with no problems...welllll...The ROF.com registration process itself is a B*itch.

Thanks I will try these

DoolittleRaider, I did turn OFF the Account Control when I installed the game, I have found that by doing so helps the installaion.

I will let you know what happens, I have to go to bed now.

Well tried to run as administrator, which did not work. I also selected it as an exception.

went through the Anti-Virus and Spy-ware settings.

At a lost so far, but well try other things and post back

The game now launches and I created a profile and the game went to a hanger with a SPAD and that is all, no other screen or menu. So I restarted the game, it went to the login screen, and I put in my email and PW. Then clicking on the OK it goes back to the hanger with the SPAD and the same no menus just the screen.

I wonder what I am missing? All the NET and frameworks are up to date and the Adobe is 9.1.

If you move the mouse to the bottom of the screen does anything show?

It could also be a resolution problem.
