Is there some kind of auto-centering going on? In IL-2 when I hit F12 trackIR resets to center at the position where my head is when I hit F12. Thus I can fiddle in my seat as much as I want. F12 doesn't appear to do anything in this game.

I'm using trackIR4 Pro with the latest updates.

F12 is the TV view mode in RoF. Try remapping your keys. It seems you have a conflict.

Another TrackIR question.

When I'm in game, using TrackIR the game re-centers itself in a close up view.

Any idea what could be causing this?

Look and see if you have Force Feedback enabled.
I did by default and Sandman said there was talk about disabling it with track ir.

I tried it and my constant zooming went away.

Yeah Force Feedback is disabled, I got rid of the TV controls that used F12. Still no dice. TrackIR just seems to be a little wonky in general. I can zoom my head in close, but I can't pull my head back past the default position. It is not a smooth 6 DOF like in Flight Sim X.

Also, probably an unrelated problem, no matter what I do I cannot invert my rudder or throttle. I have tried the "invert" option in the settings but it doesn't seem to do anything.

I have Force Feedback disabled.

This is most frustrating. Especially in a dogfight.

Any other thoughts?

If TrackIR looses your signal it will reset your view in ROF it appears. I had this occuring occasionally and I just repositioned my TIR and it was greatly reduced. I have not discussed this with neoqb yet. I was waiting to see if anyone complained about TIR in ROF.

Also, try it with TrueView off.

Make sure you have Trap enabled in your TIR software for F12 so the game and TIR don't compete for the keystroke.

There should be no correlation between TIR and FF enabled.

A tip on the inversion process for Axis - click the invert check box BEFORE you move the axis. Then move the aaxis and it should be inverted.

Not sure where either option is located at. I do not see a TrueView in the ROF settings nor do I see a Trap option in the TIR software. nope

How is this possible? The invert button is grayed out when you click "Change". Even if it wasn't, the software would register my mouse movement when I try to click Invert!

EDIT: Nevermind, found both TrueView and TRAP. Trap was already enabled... disabled TrueView and no dice.

Yes, generally, when TrackIR loses a tracking dot, ROF will recenter your view automagically(c) when it finds it again.

Try playing with your TrackIR software. I use F12 in ROF also, so make sure it's set in your TiR software for that profile.

I think there are some current TrackIR improvments comin for ROF though as well.

Click "Change" and don't touch or move the mouse until you operate the axis you want. If you do it will go to the mouse axis. Once you have the correct axis in the box, then check the invert box. Worked for me.

I generally use the "up-down-left" arrows as hotkeys for my TIR. Usually no use for them anyway if you´re using a joystick!

Yeah that is what I have been doing. Jason implied that you were supposed to hit "invert" before moving the axis, which is impossible. It is weird though. When I invert the controls, at FIRST things work out good, then after moving the throttle a little bit it seems to auto correct back to being the wrong way. Maybe I am seeing things though.

Basically my rudders are backwards, and my throttle is backwards (haven't bothered to mess with mixture axis yes). I have tried both my x52 and CH Yoke throttles, both stay inverted no matter what.

You can also go into your x:\rof\data\input\ folder and edit your custom input.map file ( Mine is named WWBrian_input.map for example)

then locate the following two lines YAW and THROTTLE

action("RPC_YAW_N",State,joy0_axis_T);
action("RPC_THROTTLE_N",State,joy0_axis_Z);

...change the YAW_N to YAW_P

and the THROTTLE_N to THROTTLE_P

..this changes axis-Negative to axis-Positive.

or..if they are already a P change them to an N.

What did you change in your TrackIR software settings? I've tried numerous things to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

My quote was in response to the OP.

..for your "recentering when you dont want it to" -- I would just suggest maybe some more aggressive curves so you dont have to turn your real head as much. I know...you may be suprised how much more you use TiR in a WW1 setting than WW2. At least for me, I'm swingin around all over the place. I get out of whack too at times. But nutin a quick F12 wont cure.

How does your TiR's "tracking" window look? do you have VE?
How do your green dots look? ( or your one dot without the 6DoF)
Do they get close to each other? ( if you have 6DoF)

this recentering happens when TrackIR gets confused. It gets confused when it loses its tracking. That could be caused by lots of things.
Thats why I said just "play" with it.

Also, make sure you have the "Rise of Flight" update for TrackIR ( from the update -> Check for games option)

Hope this Helps

OK I figured out my trackIR problem...

Have to run trackIR as an Admin. oops

I don't need to for IL-2 or MS Flight Sim X, but you do for ROF.

I still can not get TrackIR to register at all. TIR4
the bit is set to 1 in my map file.
I tried running as adminstrator but TIR would crash.
My tracking window works fine in TIR.

Make sure you have these lines in your custom map file Cephas --
(ATTENTION: some have "State,_trackir..." and some have "State,trackir...") -- no underscore ("_") This is not a typo!!

action("BC_HEAD_TRANS_X_P",State,_trackir_axis_Z);
action("BC_HEAD_TRANS_Y_P",State,trackir_axis_Y);
action("BC_HEAD_TRANS_Z_P",State,_trackir_axis_X);
action("BC_HEAD_ROLL_P",State,trackir_axis_ROLL);
action("BC_HEAD_PITCH_P",State,trackir_axis_PITCH);
action("BC_HEAD_YAW_P",State,_trackir_axis_YAW);

and also (as a troubleshooting step only)

action("BC_HEAD_PITCH_P",Event,mouse_axis_Y);
action("BC_HEAD_YAW_P",Event,mouse_axis_X);

I'm not sure about the mouse_axis stuff. But I remember early on, I tried deleting all those multiple extra assignments that I thought I didn't need, and remember having to put those mouse ones back....

You can also email me through the squadron mail and or schedule a time on our Teamspeak and I can walk ya through whatever you like.

I'm not understanding the question then. You Have TrackIR 3 (without 6DoF?)

...and you want to what?

(sorry Sim frown ...not trying to be daft)

I guess deleting those lines completely works.

Now problem is still there. I can't change FOV or head movement with TrackIR enabled. It automatically resets back.

then make sure you do not have a >> to the left of the action you are assigning. This symbol indicates another action is using the same key/button/axis assignment and should be changed.

also check your enable/disable key for TrackIR. Is it F9? F9 is also ROF's default for Head:Snap Mode

I changed mapping in trackir and removed >> . Same thing. If I disable trackir, than I can zoom in / out. If I enable it, zoom returns to normal.
