i dont know.. my supervisor showed me his Logitech Force 3D Pro.

my gosh that stick feels horrible..i can feel every teeth of the gears that are attached to the force feedback motor.

he plugged in, and centering force was, kind of..weak (not sure if that is the default state), using windows drivers (not logitech drivers..was on a work computer.)

i know its not the G940.. but if the stick is anything like the Force 3D... i dont even want to touch it.

tomorrow i will bring the Force 3d to try it out on my computer.

SO FAR...Joystick i used

CH Flightstick Pro
pro: feels good, right stiff-ness, AWESOME Programming software
con: only 3 axis, a hat and 4 buttons.

CH Combatstick
pro: feels good, AWESOME Programming software
con: none.

CH Flighterstick
pro: Lots of buttons and hats, AWESOME Programming software
con: for all the buttons on the stick, makes the joystick feels WAY too loose, some had to mod this joystick to feel stiffer.

Saitek Avaitor
pro: in-expensive, does the job
con: SST software sux, cheap construction

Thrustmaster T.16000M
pro: feels AWESOME, right stiff-ness, hall effect, gimbal smooth as silk, returns to center like butter.
con: button layout, NO programming software what so ever.

Suncom Talon F-15E
pro: feels good, good stiffness..awesome design based off F-15 joystick, like on F-15 & F-18
con: discontinued, and it is Gameport (NOT USB)

about to check out Logiteck Force 3D...
so far, feels VERY horrible- every teeth of gears felt..will be back on force feed back opinion

DEAR Mark. I am not trying to put your product down. so far it looks ( "LOOKS" ) good. I FRIGGIN LOVE ALL THE FEATURES IT HAS... the design, layout. but i have NO clue on how it performs and how much support games have. i hope these comments help you to make the best daymn controller, because we all want a quality product....

Mark, i would like to know if you can edie the Joystick axis saturation curves. i couldnt tell from the lockonfiles.com review. thrustmaster foxy and CH control manager can do this. i asked this question before, but your answer was unclear...

I have a Force 3D Pro and know what you are talking about. I suspect that rather than feeling the gear teeth what you are detecting are the dead spots between the commutator lobes in the motor. The Force 3D uses two small DC motors, with a relatively low gearing ratio and 3 lobe commutators. Probably replacing the motors with 5 poles equivalents would smooth things out, but if you are ready to do that sort of hacking you might as well replace the motor drivers with something beefier while, you are at it

im just trying this logitech force feed back, to make some kind of comparison of logitech FFB implementation...

so far, im not crazy about what the G940 offers other than the physical design.. though i am tempted to get it, gut it, and put CH products electronics into it...

The G940 Force feedback has no comparison with earlier Logitech FF sticks. It is an all-new design and shares more with the G25 Racing wheel.

As for axis adjustment, this is what is currently offered: You can adjust sensitivity, create and adjust a dead zone, and adjust range. Range adjustment forces more movement into less axis deflection. These axis adjustments are profile specific, so you can have different dead zones and sensitivity, etc. for each simulation.

For now, we are leaving customized response curves to the individual simulations, as most already have something in place.

I don't know about Hannibal, but I'm looking forward to the G940. Nice going, Logitech_Mark. The G940 will be my 2009 Christmas present. I have the Saitek X45 HOTAS and the Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS, but neither one is FFB. If the G940 has a lot in common with the G25, I'm sold! I love my G25! It's the best.

Any news on UK retailers or pre-orders yet?
Can't even see the G940 listed on the Logitech UK site.

thanks Mark for the reply.

because i am nuts about hardware, i might end up getting this...
though i wish i can mess around with a display model...

As for "leaving customized response curves to the individual simulations, as most already have something in place.", i hope this will NOT be the case in a future update to the software...

i play games not from FSX, black shark, iL2-1946, to battlefield2, there are many games not like black shark that allows you to adjust the axis response curves... FSX does even go to that step...or even Battlefield 2, which has only has sensitivity adjustment for yaw and pitch...nothing about deadzones, etc...

put it this way, Thrustmaster Foxy can do it, so can CH Control manager...

anyways, that is my two cents...

is there a place i can try a display model, maybe like a best buys or something?

Hannibal, a good example of the Logitech software having the response curves because the sim doesn't, is Steel Beasts.

The response curve on my Saitek stick is terrible, but SB doesn't allow me to change the response curve. If the pots are as accurate as described, that curve adjustment ability would make this a buy, irrespective of FF.
