Hey guys, Here is a quick snap of the ROF box contents. I received the art samples today. Thought you might like to see. Picture shows - DVD Sleeve with Flap, DVD Box, Map/Boelcke Poster, Key/Joystick Guide, 36 Page Start Guide, DVD Disk. I'm sorry, leather flying suit, flare gun and silk scarf not included. :-) On the back of the map is some custom art depicting the Dicta Boelcke. Learn it or die! I'll save showing that for the release. Jason

Now that's just plain mean, Jason. Of course we're all jealous! And just because you've been so mean to rub our faces in it I hope your dog urinates on your stereo equipment!

That's one of the most attractive game presentations I've seen. Really nice. This looks like a real labor of love. Gonna be a good one, I'm sure!

You didn't answer the plane question Jason. I'm just about ready to say screw the online requirement, and I'm looking for a really good reason for doing so. I've got the money, my computer is more than adequate to run it nicely, and I've got a fast connection (10Mb),so I guess I'm just looking for that little whisp of wind to blow me off of the fence. So, what aircraft (flyable) are we looking at in the NA release?

I donīt know about everything else, but the printed map, is a jewel, that I havenīt seen since.. hell since the 90īs! AND a must for any realism buf! I keep printind the darn Il-2 maps, on my less that adecuate printer.. To have a nice big compleat map is going to be a very welcome comfort.
And hat alone justifes a box copy, instead of the digital download.. unless you havea laser plotter or course, or you care to spen teh same money or more at Kinkos...

Thanks again Jason. I just pre ordered from Amazon. I know I've been a pain but being on a fixed income (and not a big one at that) I have to choose carefully when I buy. This year marks the most flight sims I've ever bought in a single year (3). I just want to make sure that it's something that I'm going to want before I buy it. Not being into the whole MP thing has made the decision difficult, since the game is geared toward that, but I've heard there will be improvements in the SP area.
Nothin' personal, just business.

Did I get a used copy? I finally found RoF at Walmart last night, but the manual was badly dog-eared, and the map crumpled and torn in 2 places! It looks like Maverick had a good chew on the thing before putting it in the box. I know it sounds trivial, some paper supplements when we're most interested in the software, but this is part of the product and should be pristine coming out of the box. Not to mention that newqb took a lot of care to include this beautiful glossy map and print material with their product. They should know that in some cases it's reaching the customer in lousy condition.

Blue,
Was the DVD case shrink wrapped? I would take it back to Wal-Mart. Something may have happened to it during packaging or as you suggested returned it and wal-Mart re-sold, but I find that odd.

It was indeed shrink wrapped, practically had the new DVD smell. I couldn't resist installing the software despite this, but maybe I can get Walmart to swap a map out from another package. Maybe it's just bad luck, but if there are more reports of this then neoqb & Co. should look into possible careless packaging. Oddly, I've had something similar happen when I bought DCS: Black Shark from Gamestop in NY last month. Nothing ripped but the manual was crammed into the case so that it folded over and creased. Anyway, can't wait to start flying!

BH,
It's not neoqb who is charge of packaging, it is 777 Studios. That's one of the main functions of a publisher. These were printed and packaged in the U.S. Utah to be exact. I do know that we had an issue with a small batch of units where the robot packaging the units went crazy and ripped some artwork. The replicator told me they were able to fix the issue and all bad items were discarded and re-printed and re-packaged. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that your unit was partially mangled by the robot and this unit slipped though. I will chat with the responsible party.
We've sold thousands of these and you are the first to contact me about this issue. Looks like you're the lucky winner!
I apologize for the issue. Definitely take it back to Wally World and get a new one. If they won't help you let me know.
Jason
